Sharpy Rocks the 2012 Brit Awards
LONDON – LD Al Gurdon designed this year’s Brit Awards at London’s O2 Arena with close to 200 Clay Paky Sharpys in the rig. Performances featured Adele, Rihanna, Blur, Coldplay, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Olly Murs and Florence and the Machine. Gurdon says he’s been using the Sharpys for about six months now, and the fixture’s flexibility gave him a number of different looks for each artist.

LONDON – For Sky TV’s UK broadcasting of the Academy Awards, Sky TV LD Malcolm Reed lit the studio as hosts covered the red carpet arrivals and main awards ceremony. Richard Martin Lighting supplied the mostly Martin rig, which included the MAC Aura. Lighting Programmer Joe Bleasdale controlled the rig with an M1 console.
