AMIENS, France – The Cirque Arlette Gruss is touring France with four DMX-controlled Robert Juliat 1800W MSR FLO followspots to highlight its fast moving acts. LD Arthur Oudin needed a followspot to follow trapeze artists, clowns, magicians, motorbikes and animals with accuracy. It also needed to withstand the rigors of the road on their six-month tour.

LONDON – LD Al Gurdon designed this year’s Brit Awards at London’s O2 Arena with close to 200 Clay Paky Sharpys in the rig. Performances featured Adele, Rihanna, Blur, Coldplay, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Olly Murs and Florence and the Machine. Gurdon says he’s been using the Sharpys for about six months now, and the fixture’s flexibility gave him a number of different looks for each artist.

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka – LDs Mohamed Hussain and Mohamed Maznavi of MOS Sound & Light featured 120 Robe moving lights at the heart of their lighting design for Billy Ocean’s recent show at the Exhibition and Convention Centre. MOS has been offering Robe products for the past 10 years in its rental inventory.

KIEV, Ukraine – The Ukraina and Novy channels are two of the most watched TV outlets in the Ukraine. Both recently updated their broadcast studios with ETC lighting and control products.

BLACKBURN, UK – HSL supplied lighting equipment to classical/pop crossover artist Katherine Jenkins’ UK tour. Tim Routledge designed the show starting with Jenkins in center stage, accompanied by a 32-piece National Symphony Orchestra. Her last tour hit arenas; this production was scaled to fit into more intimate theatres and concert halls.

BRUSSELS – Belgian national broadcaster VRT installed 42 Robe ROBIN 300 LEDWash moving lights in their studio complex. The LEDWash 300s are scattered all around the studio, which includes a live audience and a band stage.

LONDON, UK – Philips Selecon and Strand Lighting distributor, Architainment have completed an installation project for ITN at the new, remote controlled Channel 5 News Room in London Bridge. Dealing with the issues of low ceilings and an insufficient power supply led to the LED solution including Selecon PL1s, ColorKinetics ColorBlastTRXs and ColorKinetics iW Blast units.

LONDON — Among the London stage productions recognized with 2012 Olivier Awards were Matilda The Musical, which honored Rob Howell for best set design, and Frankenstein, whose lighting designer, Bruno Poet, took top honors. The event was held April 15 at the Royal Opera House.
