Sharpys Shine on Ukraine TV’s “Star Factory”

Bergamo, Italy – Ukrainian TV show, “Star Factory,” is in its fourth season with a complement of Clay Paky Sharpys. Maxim Balashov, technical director, LD and a founder of ALIGHT, selected Clay Paky Sharpys to raise the bar on TV lighting production. ALIGHT has inked deals with leading Ukraine TV networks to provide lighting services that require it to continually upgrade its technical equipment base.

Martin Exterior’s Artificial Sunlight at 78 Degrees North

AARHUS, Denmark – At 78 degrees north latitude, Longyearbyen lacks sunlight for almost four months of the year. Tor-Gunnar “Gusche” Stokke of Stokken Lys created a lighting scheme that would release a Norwegian cultural landmark from its winter obscurity. He chose the Martin Professional Exterior 400 RGBW LED wash light to simulate natural sunlight onto the building, complete with the color temperature changes that would normally occur from dawn to dusk.

LD Dan Hardiman is using more than a dozen Sharpys as upstage floor lights for aerial effects and to back light the band.  The band does not like strong key light and is kept fairly moody,  a look that Hardiman balances with intensive moving light effects.

Rigger Killed in Laura Pausini Concert Staging Collapse

REGGIO CALABRIA, Italy — Matteo Armelini, 32, a rigger who was working with other crew members in preparation for Laura Pausini’s concert March 5 at the PalaCalafiore here, died at the scene when staging elements fell on him from above at about 2 a.m. Two others helping secure the lighting rig for the central portion of the three-stage set received minor injuries.

Martin Strikes a Chord Lighting Aarhus Church Organ

AARHUS, Denmark – Denmark’s Aarhus Symphony Orchestra used Martin Professional lighting to highlight its show stopper, a large concert organ, in the Symphonic Hall of the Concert Hall in Aarhus. More than 100 meters of Martin LED strips mounted on the back of the wooden slats light the organ pipes (from a distance of 15cm). Mounted vertically at the bottom of the slats and lighting the lower conical part of the pipes are Martin Tripix 1200 and Tripix 300 LED linear luminaires.
