GHENT, Belgium – Robe’s ROBIN moving lights have been installed into the two main performance spaces at the De Bijloke Muziekcentrum (Music Centre) in Ghent, Belgium. The venue includes two renovated former civil hospitals, one dating back to the 13th century (the Concert Hall) and one to the 16th century (the Kraakhuis) – both converted into atmospheric performance spaces. Above all, they say a huge reduction in the lighting electricity bill has already been noticed since the installation went live.

MANCHESTER, UK – The artwork is not only inside the Whitworth Art Gallery, but in the windows and on the exterior. DBN Lighting has supplied a custom LED and control solution to the gallery. Artist Liz Rideal designed the project, which involves illuminating nine large widows on the top story and video projections on the exterior facade.

LONDON – Entec supplied lighting production for three high profile shows at London Fashion Week for Paul Smith, Mulberry and Moschino. All three projects were once again managed for Entec by Adam Stevenson.

TORONTO – CAST Software’s wysiwyg previsualization suite is on Roxette’s current world tour. Calle Brattberg, the all-around production designer and operator, used wysiwyg as he only had three days of rehearsal with the band. Along with that, all communications with vendors and venues were enhanced and simplified by reference to the plots done in wysiwyg.

BERLIN, Germany – TV LD Manuel da Costa chose to use more than 200 Robe moving lights on the first series of the Voice of Germany (VOG) reality talent competition. Michael Baganz operated the moving lights on a grandMA console. Cologne-based rental company Magic Light & Sound provided the lighting equipment.

LIVERPOOL, UK – ADLIB Solutions renewed its working relationship with US pop duo Panic at the Disco by supplying lighting and sound packages for their recent UK tour. The lighting rig was designed originally by Panic’s LD Robb Jibson, and Eric Cathcart flew over from the US to operate after sending over a plot to ADLIB’s lighting department, which was matched as closely as possible.

Johannesburg, South Africa – VWV, one of South Africa’s leading production companies, invested in Robe’s new ROBIN MMX Spot moving light fixtures. DWR and the Robe lighting factory in the Czech Republic turned the delivery around quickly, so that the eight new units could immediately be used on a ‘Save The Rhinos’ event for the Wildlands Conservation Trust’s Rhino Conservation Project staged in Nelson Mandela Square, Sandton, Johannesburg.

BATUMI, Georgia — Lighting providers Sound Design Studio and Adjarganateba used Chauvet lighting fixtures to illuminate one of the historical buildings in Era Square here. The design and install companies used 121 COLORado 3p IP and 33 COLORado 1 IP fixtures to uplight the former national bank’s exterior. The fixtures, which are programmed start shining at twilight, were chosen in part for their ability to withstand wet weather..

LONDON – UK based Presentation Rentals (PR) supplied technical production equipment to two high profile events on the same day in London, both featuring keynote speeches by Microsoft billionaire philanthropist and global anti-poverty campaigner, Bill Gates. The first was the BBC’s live broadcast from Deptford Green School with a satellite link to Uganda. Later that day, Gates took part in a live webcast from the London School of Economics addressing the 2012 Global Poverty Ambassadors and students.

DOHA, Qatar – Event company Auditoire designed the three-day WISE Summit event, with TechnoPro providing the lighting equipment.  TechnoPro rigged the stage with PR Lighting fixtures including a combination of 14 PR XL1200 Spot, 20 XL1200 Wash and four PR XL700 Wash.

HITCHIN, HERTS, UK – Rammstein’s touring set centers around an industrial theme with a Mega Fan capturing major attention. Production/lighting designer Roy Bennett worked with Peter Aquinde to create the urban set. Brilliant Stages designed and fabricated four main staging elements for the tour.
