LONDON – Garage-punk band The Horrors are making the most of their name and Halloween by performing under an appropriate “vibrant green” beam and other spooky looks. Their recent gig at London’s Roundhouse used an assortment of gear from White Light.

AARHUS, Denmark – Lighting designer Stephan Aue of Ambion GmbH is one of the first LDs worldwide to use Martin Professional’s new MAC Aura wash light. He placed 42 of the fixtures on the German rock band Guano Apes’ current European tour, controlling it with a Martin M1 console.

CENTURIAN, South Africa – When the Royal Elephant Hotel in Centurion was called on to host an event for 200 VIPs plus 1500 invited guests, the “big elephant” in the room was: “we need more space.” Temporary venue specialists Gearhouse In2Structures came to the rescue with a village of three fully air conditioned Dome venues with interlinking sidewalks and covered decks.

TIRANA, Albania – Owner Ermal Gashi of Diesel Hall was looking for a cost effective but high-quality wall-grazing fixture to dress up his popular bar-lounge. Yet the client had put in clauses saying that the theatre could not close and the show must go on as normal. The team talks about the products and support, pulling it off on time and on budget.

PITESTI, Romania – SGM lighting fixtures and control feature exclusively in the Grand Ballroom of the new Hotel Ramada Pitesti in Romania. The client is said to be delighted, as even before the official opening, the Grand Ballroom was booked for events throughout the 2012 period.

FRANKFURT, Germany – Tarm Showlaser GmbH pulled out all the stops for The Volkswagen Group. The large European carmaker held an event called Group Night to highlight innovations in its range of cars. More than 2,000 guests from 43 countries enjoyed the laser effects presentation as the vehicles were unveiled in the Ballsporthalle in Frankfurt, Germany.

CALGARY – Every night during the annual Calgary Stampede a unique performance combination and conversion takes center stage.  First, the GMC Rangeland Derby races around the dirt track and then the Grandstand Show, featuring The Young Canadians, caps off each night.  As this conversion between race and extravaganza takes place, crew members are taking part in a finely-tuned, choreographed routine.  Designer Pierre Marleau specifies VARI*LITE luminaires, supplied by Epic Production Technologies.

AARHUS, DENMARK – Martin Professional recently held an installation products training seminar for lighting designers at its headquarters in Aarhus, Denmark, the first of several planned over the coming year. The next session is set for the end of October.

LLANELLI, UK – Lighting Technology Projects (LTP) was asked by Lancashire-based Lite Ltd. to bring to life their lighting design for a new, illuminated cube array feature at the city’s Eagle Market within a new shopping center. The nine internally lit cubes are suspended from the ceiling and illuminated with more than 3500 nodes of Philips CK i-Color Flex SLX. Twists, scrolls and swirling rainbows share time with straight color-changes to entertain and attract more shoppers.

CASTEL GOFFREDO, Italy – Coemar’s Infinity Spot M with its new Tungsten MiniFastFit halogen lamp illuminated the catwalk of “Miss Italia,” a popular national event for the past 72 years. Director of Photography Fausto Carboni specified the fixtures from rental company Arco Multimedia.

SURREY HILLS, NSW – Lighting designer Andy Mutton has specified 14 Robe ROBIN 300 LEDWash moving lights for a new lighting installation at Upstairs, a Beresford Hotel nightspot generating lots of buzz.
