JOHANNESBURG — Gearhouse Splitbeam recently acquired Robert Juliat 2500W Aramis followspots for its rental inventory, and the new gear has already been used for a production of Jesus Christ Superstar, pictured here. The rental company also acquired a number of Wybron Coloram IT 7.5-inch color changers.

OSLO, Norway — Rental company Rubicon provided the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) with 12 Sharpy units for their new musical game show, Popstokk, where glowing stripes and beams play a central role in senior lighting designer Tore Rødseth’s visual design.

BATH, U.K. — To mark the opening night of the 2011 Bath International Music Festival, themed “Party in the City,” LD Simon Marcus from Enlightened specified Robe moving lights and Anolis LED fixtures. Landmarks bathed in a new glow included Bath Abbey, Pulteney Bridge and other key architectural features around the UK World Heritage spa town’s city center.

LONDON — Renegade lighting designer Nick Gray provided a lighting design based around two trussing arches that move in three different positions for the current Kasabian tour, which was set to perform several shows before headlining at festivals including Rockness in Inverness and the Isle of Wight, as well as Rock Werchter in Belgium.

PRAGUE, Czech Republic — Art Jgs, a Clay Paky distributor, provided gear and design for a fountain lighting installation at Metropole Zli?ín, a fashion and entertainment complex about five miles from the Prague city center. Alpha Spot HPE 300s and Alpha Wash 300s light the fountain jets from above in various colors as the music changes.

LONDON — Richard Martin Lighting provided 20 Clay Paky Sharpy fixtures to supplement the rig provided by Lite Alternative for Tim Routledge’s design for the 2011 NME Awards. The event, held at London’s Brixton Academy, featured performances by The Foo Fighters, PJ Harvey and My Chemical Romance.

DUBLIN and BELFAST — Production Services Ireland (PSI) supplied lighting equipment and crew for arena shows at Dublin’s O2 and Belfast’s Odyssey Arena, for classical-pop crossover singer Katherine Jenkins.

TEL AVIV, Israel — The grand opening of the first phase of Ariel Sharon Park took place in May, with LD Gil Teichman using 90 Fine Art Fine99 Xenon 4K fixtures, 75 Robe ColorSpot 2500E ATs and six kilometers of incandescent lamp chain to complement the landscape, all controlled by Wireless Solution Sweden AB’s W-DMX.

KUWAIT — The 12th annual Hala Febrayer music and poetry festival was televised by Kuwaiti TV Network Al-Watan over the course of several nights and lit with a rig that included Clay Paky fixtures, specified by ACT Lighting Design of Brussels, Belgium.

WORMSLEY PARK, U.K. — After 22 years at Garsington Manor, Garsington Opera has moved to Wormsley, a country estate of about 2,500 acres. Unusual Rigging managed the design and build of a temporary 600-seat pavilion for a month-long run of performances. The pavilion will be dismantled and taken away on about 40 trucks, then return for next year’s run.

SYDNEY — Sydney Theatre Company’s lighting crew has been happy with the ETC Ion consoles in the Wharf 2 studio venue, and that influenced their decision on what to buy when it came time for new consoles for the Wharf 1 venue.

SANTIAGO, Chile — Turner Media-owned ChileVision TV, which broadcasts nationally from seven studios here, has been adding Robe fixtures to its inventory since 2007. They currently use more than 60 Robe fixtures, including ColorSpot and ColorWash 575 and 1200E AT moving lights, Scan 1200 XTs and LEDBlinders.
