ASTANA and ALMATY, Kazakhstan – Light Converse Ltd.'s LightConverse 3D Show Platform was used for the three-hour opening ceremony at the 2011 Asian Winter Games.

LONDON – White Light collaborated with students from the Central School of Speech and Drama for the second year to create a lighting technology showcase for lighting designers, technicians, consultants and others.

DAKAR, Senegal – Working with its French distributor, Avab, ETC supplied a range of fixtures, dimming and control equipment to the third Festival Mondial des Arts Nègres (World Festival of Black Arts and Cultures), illuminating the event's venues, the Théâtre National Daniel Sorano, Centre Culturel Blaise Senghor and La Biscuiterie de Médina.

ASTANA and ALMATY, Kazakhstan – More than 1,500 athletes representing 27 Asian nations and 45 National Olympic Committees recently competed at the Asian Winter Games. ARG (Moscow) called in The Prolyte Group to support their vision for the Opening Ceremony.

GENK, Belgium – C-Mine, a new $470 million cultural development on the site of an abandoned coal mine, offers visitors two flexible theatres, both of them with installed lighting rigs provided by ADB Lighting. ADB supplied a total of 275 luminaires and 564 ways of Eurorack dimming to the project, with the Eurorack 60 dimmer chosen for its quiet operation.

HELSINKI, Finland – The 3rd Season Of Light event relied upon W-DMX for one of the major installations. The event, organized by the City of Helsinki, showcased lighting designers Martin Kuhn of Germany, Per Sundin of Sweden and Tulay Schakir and Mikki Kunttu of Finland. Each created lighting installations for some of the main buildings around the city, which included the Esplandi Park Senate Square, Union Street, Kaisaniemi Park, Sanoma House, and Parliament House.

AUCKLAND, New Zealand – Paul Normandale is using MAC 101, MAC III Profile and MAC 2000 Wash XB fixtures from Martin Professional for the 2011 Chemical Brothers tour, with Normandale's lighting production company, Lite Alternative, supplying the gear. The band is also touring with a G-LEC Solaris+ 360-degree video curtain system.

SYDNEY – Waterforms International updated the lighting used in the main Dancing Brolga Fountain at the Cockle Bay Wharf dining and entertainment complex in Sydney's Darling Harbour with 30 Anolis ArcSource 6 fixtures. Anolis' Australian distributor, ULA, supplied Waterforms' Dirk Slotboom with the color-changing LED fixtures.

LONDON – Lady Gaga is now sharing the limelight with a waxen twins at Madame Tussauds attractions in London, Amsterdam, Berlin, New York, Hollywood, Las Vegas, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Architainment Lighting provided Madame Tussauds' show services manager, Simon Morris, with a new LED fixture, the PL1 from Philips Selecon, in time for the December press launch.

PARMA, Italy – Building on the idea of projecting a nativity scene on the Oratorio dei Rossi church, the Parma city council opted to use projections on Strada Garibaldi near the city's center instead of traditional holiday lighting for the 2010 Christmas celebrations from 12 Clay Paky V.I.P. 300 fixtures.
