DUBLIN and CORK, Ireland – Arthur's Day, launched in 2009 to mark the 250th anniversary of the Guinness brewing company, served as a tribute to founder Arthur Guinness and featured televised concerts to raise funds for charity. The event returned in 2010, with performances in Dublin and Cork lit by EQ Lighting and Clay Paky fixtures.

GUANGZHOU, China – For the opening and closing ceremonies of the 16th Asian Games, both lasting longer than 1 hour 40 minutes, PR Lighting accounted for more than 850 of the fixtures used, including more than 400 XL1200 Framing, 200 XL1500 Framing, 150 XL1200 Wash and 100 XL1200 Wash fixtures.

LONDON – The story of Afrobeat musician Fela Anikulapo-Kuti has moved to London's National Theatre – and according to the National's senior lighting programmer John McGarrigle, an ETS Eos lighting control system helped speed the turnaround from Broadway to South Bank.

SERIATE, Italy – A group of 20 technicians from U.K. stage and rental companies took part in a three-day training event held by Clay Paky at their headquarters here. The training event, held Nov. 9-11, focused on the Alpha 700 range of fixtures.

LONDON – Rihanna headlined the Festive Lights Switch On event, held recently in the main atrium space at Westfield London Shopping Centre in Shepherd's Bush, West London. Cover It Up was there as well to provide draping so the public could continue shopping while those attending the event could enjoy the show.

DELHI, India – Lighting designer Jerry Appelt used 440 of Martin Professional's MAC 2000 Wash fixtures and 250 MAC 2000 Wash XBs for the opening and closing ceremonies of the XIX Commonwealth Games held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in October.

LEEDS, U.K. – STL, which used Novalight Nova-Flower 2K "flower effect" fixtures for the 2010 Fireworks Spectacular at Leeds Castle, has ordered more of the units from U.K. distributor Lightfactor, doubling its rental stock.

FLORENCE, Italy – Irene Grandi's recent Alle Porte del Sogno (At the Gates of Dreams) tour visited a variety of Italian squares and theatres, and LD Adriano Sanson relied upon more than 30 Infinity series moving heads to put each venue in its best light.

HANOI, Vietnam – Vietnam celebrated 1,000 years with a 10-day party that culminated in a ceremony at Mỹ Đình Stadium in Hanoi on October 10th. The event illustrated the history of the country with over 1,000 performers and large-scale lighting visuals that included 120 Martin Professional MAC 2000 Wash XB fixtures and 30 Martin MAC III Profiles.

SINGAPORE – Located 71 floors up on top of the luxury Swissotel The Stamford, the New Asia Bar has a chic atmosphere enhanced with Robe ClubScan 250 CTs, ColorSpot 250 ATs and ColorWash 575 ATs.

LONDON – For The Michael Ball Show, Richard Martin Lighting provided Clay Paky Alpha Spot HPE 300, Alpha Wash 300 and Alpha Wash 700 fixtures to illuminate the show's theatrical set.

LONDON – Renegade produced and supplied all the technical design and equipment – lighting, video and visuals, set and scenic elements plus sound – for the SHINE 2010 Benefit Dinner, staged at The Boiler House, a new temporary structure located inside the shell of London's iconic Battersea Power Station building.
