BOLOGNA, Italy – The Teatro Comunale di Bologna was designed in the 17th century by Antonio Galli da Bibbiena, with a bell-shaped auditorium that consists of four tiers of boxes with a royal box and gallery. Clay Paky moving lights were chosen to enhance the lighting without detracting from the aural experience.

SHANGHAI, China – CD Soho is a new nightclub designed by Chen Gang that features a large central bar surrounded by a series of white fluted columns and a lighting rig that includes 12 Robe DigitalSpot 3000DTs.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Swedish alt-rock band Takida recently toured their home country beneath a Martin rig that featured P3-100 driven LC Series LED panels and Martin MAC luminaires.

MELBOURNE, Austalia – Powa Productions provided Robe gear for a leg of a Queen tribute show, It's A Kinda Magic. Powa Productions was the official lighting, audio, staging and truck supplier for that leg of the tour, and Powa Production's Simon "Junior" Johnson served as LD for the world tour.

LONDON – White Light reported that it is staying busy in early 2010, particularly in the world of theatre, the market in which the company first established itself. On the West End, recent productions include Jerusalem, lit by Mimi Jordan Sherin; The Little Dog Laughed at the Garrick, lit by Jon Clark; and Six Degrees of Separation, lit by Jason Taylor.

PORT TALBOT, U.K. – Adlib supplied lighting, sound and crew for the recent U.K. tour by Welsh rockers Lostprophets. The lighting design was a collaboration between Adlib's Ian Tomlinson and freelance LD Rob Lister (also the tour's production manager), with input from Lostprophets lead singer Ian Watkins.

FLORENCE, Italy – LD Mamo Pozzoli used Clay Paky's new Alpha Beam 700s for beam effects to complement Martin's LC Series panels that were configured in a cylindrical shape for Gianna Nannini's 16-date GiannaDream tour last fall. The LED structure is positioned at center stage and serves as the visual centerpiece of the set.

NOTTINGHAM, U.K. – Chauvet opened a full-service office in the U.K. with its own dedicated inventory, technicians and sales team. Michael Brooksbank, pictured here, has been named sales manager.  Darren Jackson is serving as Southern U.K. territory business manager.

LONDON – The London Fashion Week 2010 Designer Exhibition, organized by the British Fashion Council, filled four floors of Somerset House with the creative output from more than 200 designers. Event production company Blonstein & Associates turned to Point Source Productions and Fine Art Lighting for lighting gear and design.

JOHANNESBURG – For the fourth year running, Gearhouse South Africa supplied technical infrastructure to Top Gear Live, a live version of the quirky TV show for motor vehicle enthusiasts, which visited South Africa as part of its world tour.

LONDON – White Light's New Technology Showcase, held recently at the Central School of Speech and Drama's Embassy Theatre, gave lighting designers and technicians the chance to check out a variety of buzz-worthy gear without, White Light said, a whole lot of pressure to buy anything.
