MINSK, Belarus — A number of rock bands passing through Belarus recently have started using fixtures from PR Lighting supplied by the Chinese manufacturer’s territory distributors, FE Belimlight.

LONDON — For Ben Hur Live, staged recently at London’s O2 Arena, Patrick Woodroffe used a lighting rig of more than 200 Martin MAC 2000 Wash XB, MAC 2000 Profile and MAC III Profile moving heads for an epic musical stage production involving a cast of 400 and scenes that include a ship battle and chariot race.

UMEA, Sweden — Mersive SOL software was used at Umevatoriet Center planetarium display at Sweden’s University of Umeå for edge-blending, image warping and auto alignment of multiple projectors on the dome screen.

LONDON — LD Jeff Atkisson used a Martin Maxxyz lighting console for the 10th Anniversary celebration of “Sing Live,” a concert consisting of more than 600 singers performing in Royal Albert Hall.

SHANGHAI, China — Barco, Creative Technology and Color Lighting helped create a new look for the opening ceremony for the 11th National Games of the People's Republic of China, also known as the All China Games, including the bowl-shaped projection screen in the center of the stadium.

BELFAST — Production Services Ireland (PSI) supplied all lighting and crew to the White Sapphire Ball, a gala charity fundraiser for the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice. The event was staged at the Europa Hotel in Belfast.

LONDON — During the recent London Fashion Week (LFW), LD Nick Gray’s lighting rig for the British Fashion Council (BFC) tent at Somerset House needed to put on and discard a variety of looks for up to eight shows a day. Gray’s design company, Renegade, was asked to light several venues for LFW. At the BFC tent Renegade worked with the production company, Bacchus.

CAIRNS, Australia — The Pier Bar & Grill, which overlooks the Coral Sea and incoming yachts and powerboats, recently invested in a lighting upgrade for mood, ambience and energy efficiency.

LONDON — White Light announced its appointment as a distributor for Philips Entertainment Lamps and named David Manister business development manager to help support its work in that area.

White Light said the appointment as distributor gives it access to the full range of Philips’ lamp technologies, including the FastFit system for easy lamp replacement and adjustment and P3 technology for heat tolerance and increased lamp life.

NEWCASTLE, U.K. — White Light recently completed a six-week upgrade to the lighting control and dimming systems at Newcastle’s Theatre Royal, which included ETC’s Eos control system and ETC Sensor dimming.
