LONDON — Clay Paky is organizing the second edition of the Knight of Illumination Awards. The awards program, which honors lighting designers from around the world who work in both live entertainment and on television shows, is organized in association with STLD and ALD and is sponsored this year by Osram. It will be held on Sept. 13, 2009 at the Ibis Hotel at Earls Court, London.

LONDON — Interest in a planned one-day seminar on LED lighting and GLP’s Impression fixtures led Michael Müller, GLP director of customer support, to add a second day for the training event. Close to 30 technicians from U.K. sales and rental companies attended the event, held at Richard Martin Lighting’s office.

GLASTONBURY, U.K. — HSL is supplying a specials package for LD Chris Megginson and the U.K. indie rockers White Lies’ current European festival tour, which was augmented for the band’s appearance at Glastonbury 2009.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden — Onside TV Production, the production arm of the Allsvenskan Swedish Football League, is gearing up with Broadcast Pix Slate integrated production systems to produce daily HD news conferences for each of its 16 teams. The project includes the installation of small, unmanned HD studios in stadiums across the country that will be monitored and managed by a centralized control room.

LONDON — A.C. Special Projects Ltd. recently implemented Patrick Woodroffe’s architectural lighting design for Somerset House. The project was commissioned Somerset House’s director, Gwyn Miles.

LONDON — LD Liz Berry is using a grandMA full-size console for the current tour of the Sisters of Mercy through Europe. The tour adds to the cult band’s nearly 30 years of live performances led by lead singer Andrew Eldritch and drummer Doktor Avalanche.
