LONDON — Production Resource Group UK, Ltd. today announced that its new London base will be located at The Hoover Building, in west London.  The well-known art deco London landmark is located on the A40, with road and tube links to central London and the motorway network.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden — LD Pelle Larsson used Martin Professional’s 1500-watt MAC III Profiles and Martin MAC 2000 Wash XBs to light the Grammis, Sweden’s answer to the Grammy Awards. The event was staged in January at Hovet arena in Stockholm. Larsson also designed the set for the program, which was broadcast on Sweden’s TV4.

LONDON — LD Scott Warner is using a grandMA lighting console for the Pussycat Dolls’ Doll Domination tour. HSL is supplying the Robe-dominated rig. Warner is also the lighting director and programmer for the tour, and had previously used the grandMA console on Queen Latifah’s Trav’lin Light tour, but his use of the Robe gear is new.

CANBERRA — The Australian War Memorial (AWM), which underwent a retrofit last year to expand its focus on military engagements in the post-WW II era, required 30 new AV displays of varying size and complexity in 1,200 square feet of existing exhibit and office space driven by 40 computers. Bruce Brown from Mental Media and LSC Lighting Systems were involved in the project.

DUBAI — Behind one of the main broadcast desks at television studio CNBC Arabia, semi-transparent, floor-mounted Martin LC Series LED panels creates a customizable graphics backdrop. Nick Turner, head of operations for the region’s first 24-hour Arabic language business TV channel, was looking to augment a range of changeable and moveable “light-boxes” for backlit graphics for different news shows.

SYDNEY — Anolis ArcSource 6 RCWB LED underwater fixtures are illuminating a water sculpture located at Regent Place, the “vertical village” designed by U.K.-based Foster & Partners. Regent Place consists of two towers rising above a five-story sandstone podium that features retail, commercial and leisure spaces. Above the 5,400-square-meter, three-level shopping center, the development includes 657 apartments.

SINGAPORE —WOW-Vision, a wireless presentation software company, has opened up a sales and marketing office to cover Asia, Europe and the U.S. The company designs and manufactures proVEOS and eduVEOS for the pro AV market.

BERLIN — White Light supplied its first EvenLED units to the U.K. tour of Mary Poppins in mid-2008, and the system has subsequently been adopted by other shows including the London production of the musical Oliver! But the cyc lighting system is also helping designers meet challenges outside the theatre as well.

LONDON — City Theatrical Inc. (CTI) has provided SHoW DMX equipment to lighting contractor Howard Eaton Lighting Ltd. for Cameron Mackintosh’s production of Oliver!, now playing at The Theatre Royal in London’s West End.

PARIS — LD Scott Warner is using Robe moving lights, including fixtures from the Digital Series, on his rig for the Pussycat Dolls “Doll Domination” tour, with lighting equipment being supplied by U.K.-based HSL.

LONDON — XL Video UK supplied MiTrix screens, 290 HD VersaTubes, cameras/PPU, Catalyst digital media servers and crew to the Kings of Leon “Only By The Night” tour. The show features an original IMAG mix directed by Phil Woodhead, who’s working closely with Catalyst operator Phil Haynes, lighting co-designer Ali Bale and creative director Paul Normandale on the show’s visual big picture.
