WEST BABYLON, NY – Bestek Lighting and Staging noted that Abott Finkel (pictured here), who had been serving as Bestek’s executive vice president after Bestek and Abott Audio merged in 2015, has been running the company as president & CEO since earlier this year, when Bestek founder Van Allen Rice retired. The company, founded by Van Allen Rice in 1974, provides a full range of project management and technical services relating to lighting and staging for events held in the New York City area.

LOS ANGELES – Zylight, a leading manufacturer of innovative LED lighting solutions, recently announced it has been named the exclusive distributor of Aladdin professional LED lighting instruments throughout North, Central and South America. Aladdin’s product line includes the Bi-Flex family of flexible LED panels, which are available in three sizes up to 200 watts.

ORLANDO – Bob Casey, a long time veteran of the entertainment industry, has joined Rose Brand in the company’s new Florida location. Rose Brand recently expanded its operations to the Orlando area with the purchase of Swag Decor, Florida’s leader in event drape rental and installation.  Working with the Florida team, Casey brings a wealth of technical theatre expertise to the Swag Decor and Rose Brand customer base.

ROCHESTER, NY — Whirlwind, a leading interface manufacturer for the live event, audio installations, and theater industries, announced that they are completing a 13,000-square-foot expansion of their New York factory to handle the rapid growth the 41-year-old company has been experiencing. When completed this month, the total size will be 60,000 square feet.

RENTON, WA – LMG, a national provider of video, audio, lighting and LED support, has opened an office and warehouse in the Seattle, WA area.  The company’s other locations operate out of Las Vegas, Nashville, Dallas, Detroit, and the headquarters in Orlando. LMG has hired industry veteran Mark Allen, pictured here, as the Seattle location’s general manager.

LAS VEGAS  AAdyn Technology, LLC (AAdynTech) added two industry veterans to its sales team, naming Joey Amman Western Regional Sales Manager and Joe Boda Eastern Regional Sales Manager. AAdynTech supplies LED lighting fixtures to the film, television, and mobile production industries.

MUENCHENSTEIN, Switzerland – ACD promoted Brice Lemaire to Sales Manager – European Market. He is based out of the company’s ACDCryo offices in Switzerland.

KNOXVILLE, TN – Bandit Lites named Shay Simpson senior accountant. Simpson, who has 13 years of entertainment industry experience, will manage all aspect of the accounting systems while developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures. She will be based at the company’s headquarters in Knoxville. 

AMSTERDAM — Philips, which split its business operations into medical and lighting entities back in Sept. 2014, with the hopes of spinning off its lighting business, has not been able to find a buyer willing to pay what it wants for the whole lighting entity, which analysts now value at about $5.8 billion.

KORTRIJK, Belgium — Barco NV has acquired all shares of Medialon Inc., according to a joint letter to Medialon customers from both George Stromeyer at Barco and Alex Carru at Medialon. The announcement follows several other big M&A deals among companies in the AV technology sector recently, including H.I.G. Capital’s acquisition of AVI-SPL, Diversified Systems’ acquisitions of Technical Innovation and The Systems Group and Mitel’s acquistion of Polycom.
