LAS VEGAS – Industry veteran Larry Robbins has joined Blue Planet Lighting as Director of Business Development in Las Vegas, where he will focus on new sales and strategic planning.

BOULDER, CO — Industry veteran Danny Abelson announced the formation of Zeehi LLC, a new company dedicated to developing solutions to improve the workflow of entertainment production professionals. Zeehi’s management includes other industry veterans with experience in audio and lighting product design, production management and fixed installations. Zeehi’s first entertainment technology solution, CueCast, will debut this summer.

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – Clay Paky has appointed Johannesburg-based DWR Distribution as its exclusive distributor for South Africa. The appointment is a direct response to the continued growth in the creative and entertainment industries in South Africa, a sector that, according to the Department of Trade and Industry, is valued at around R7.4-billion per year.

LOS ANGELES — Upstage Video, rental providers of mobile and modular LED video screens, has acquired Thousand Oaks, CA-based LED rental house JumboScreen Co. (JSC), which had been owned and operated by the late David Mann, who died last year in an on-the-job accident. Upstage Video will be shifting JSC’s operating base to a new 10,000-square-foot facility in downtown Los Angeles.

QUEZON CITY, Philippines – Clay Paky has appointed RMB Lights and Sounds as its distributor in the Philippines. Serving the theatrical and television industry for 12 years, RMB is a wholesale provider of specialty lamps throughout the Philippines.

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – Brenda Caplen has joined Gearhouse ICS. Caplen has 17 years of experience in the Southern African conference and events industry, most recently with Evaluate Interactive Event Systems and Conference Communications.

MILWAUKEE, WI – Gabriel Spaulding has been named Lead Video Editor at Logan Productions. Spaulding has more than 10 years of industry experience as a freelance videographer, editor, motion graphics artist and musician.

TAMPA, FL – Bay Stage Lighting has two new hires in its warehouse. Robert C. Peterson joins as Warehouse Supervisor. With more than 15 years of experience in the industry as an independent contractor, Peterson is known for his skill in aerial rigging and custom fabrications. Working under Peterson, Cody Barden is the new warehouse lead.

SHENZEN, CHINA – Tait China has opened in Shenzen with two people at the helm. Alex Luthwaite joins Tait China as Technical Manager. He will work with General Manager Ysabel Vangrudenberg to oversee all production carried out in the region. Luthwaite most recently worked with Neg Earth in the UK, where he dealt with production design and development of large scale custom control systems. Vangrudenberg coordinates all Chinese based projects and plays a key business development role in the region.

BRISTOL, UK – Dan Aldridge has taken on the post of Managing Director at Stage Electrics.  Aldridge has been involved in the company for more than six years, both as Operations Director and most recently as a Non-Executive Director. Founder and majority shareholder of Stage Electrics, David Whitehead, will continue in the role of Chairman.
