MIDLAND, TX — Tomcat, a brand of The Vitec Group, named Mike Garl president and general manager. Garl, who joins Tomcat from James Thomas Engineering, where he was previously the president and managing partner, will be responsible for all the day-to-day activities at Tomcat.

KNOXVILLE, TN — James Thomas Engineering announced that Mike Garl, president, will be leaving the company Jan. 1, 2012. “James Thomas Engineering would like to thank Mike for his 27 years of excellent leadership and vision,” the company noted. Tray Allen, who currently serves as vice-president, has been named president.

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Music industry veteran Randy Caballero joins Mega Systems’ Los Angeles office as Western Regional Account Manager, where he will provide sales and technical support, training and service to regional dealers. Caballero’s career in the music industry includes a Grammy Award for his own music. His experience ranges from recording studio work to concert production offices; most recently he was musical director on two nationally released films.

MONTREAL – MDG, a manufacturer of fog and haze atmospheric effects, has appointed AED Distribution as its official distributor in the Belgian and Luxembourg markets. This will allow clients to not only buy MDG products through AED Distribution, but also to rent products through its sister company, AED Rent.

FORT WAYNE, IN – Industry Veteran Jeffrey Mateer has taken on the position as Sales Director at Apollo Design Technology. Mateer brings with him 30 years of experience from Light & Sound Design, PRG and Light Source, and most recently as product manager at Apollo.
