JAPAN – Japanese folk-rock duo Yuzu are celebrating their 20th anniversary with a tour across Japan. The band’s unique stage show features a huge back wall of LED screens of assorted sizes and shapes and a giant sculptural Yuzutaro LED – an anthropomorphic character whose head is fashioned from the Japanese citrus fruit called yuzu. disguise (formerly known as d3) 4x4pro media servers were chosen to unify the different feeds needed to push content to the LED back wall, the sculptural Yuzutaro LED plus the stage riser LED.
LAS VEGAS – Avolites had cause for celebration last week at the LDI exhibition in Las Vegas. The British manufacturer of creative lighting and video control tools scooped the ‘Gold Star Best Software Award 2017’ for its newly launched media server software update, Ai v10.1. Organized by one of the entertainment technology sector’s leading magazine titles, Projection Lights and Staging News (PLSN), the Gold Star Awards recognize excellence in the field of product development.

LAS VEGAS – Top lighting designer Cory FitzGerald teamed up with programmer Jason Baeri to produce lighting looks at Ayrton’s LDI booth earlier this month. Overseen by Ayrton global sales manager, Michael Althaus, the light show put Ayrton’s latest fixtures through their paces and served as a showcase for what the new fixtures could do. The visuals also drew notice from the event’s organizers, winning an award for “Most Creative Use of Light” at the show.

LAS VEGAS – The inaugural PLSN Gold Star Awards honored product manufacturers with a total of 24 awards bestowed, in recognition of each product’s quality, innovation and ability to expand the technological boundaries of live event production. Product categories range from lighting fixtures to video products, software, rigging automation and more. The awards were bestowed earlier this month, during the LDI convention in Las Vegas. PLSN editor Nook Schoenfeld and publisher Terry Lowe met with the winners to present the awards on the exhibition floor.

His scalable rig saw as many as 76 of the award-winning fixtures used at Paris’ flagship venue, AccorHotels Arena, during the long-serving indie pop band’s latest tour to promote their new album Ti Amo.
NEDERLAND, CO – The bass guitar is “utterly at the mercy” of Victor Wooten, one critic proclaimed about the artist Rolling Stone magazine named one of the Top Ten bassists of all time. The maestro’s mastery was on full display when his Victor Wooten Trio performed at the Caribou Room, a new live music venue just outside Boulder, CO.
