NEW YORK– Switzerland-based designer Philipp Plein presented his spring and summer 2018 men’s and women’s collections at New York Fashion Week in a runway spectacle that combined A-list entertainment with Plein’s edgy designs.  WorldStage provided lighting for the event that transformed the mammoth Hammerstein Ballroom into a club-style venue for some 3,000 attendees.

LAS VEGAS – Celine Dion’s LD, Yves Aucoin, added Robe MegaPointe multi-purpose moving light fixtures to the rig for the artist’s show at Caesars Palace Colosseum in Las Vegas. This is the first live concert show using MegaPointes in North America, according to Robe. The hard-working Grammy Award winning artist and top selling recording star who offers an accessible mix of pop, soul, rock and R&B is currently playing around 70 shows a year in Las Vegas in a series of three-week stints, and tours other territories in between.

DALLAS – Elation Professional’s new Artiste Dali™ LED moving head won a PLASA Award for Innovation only a short month ago. Now another in the company’s Artiste series, the Artiste DaVinci WH™, has been honored with a New Product Award as the “Best Moving Light” at the WFX Conference & Expo in Dallas. “We are very excited about the Artiste product series and are delighted with the recognition it is getting,” stated Elation Sales Director Eric Loader. “With Artiste DaVinci we put all the design features that creative LDs ask for in a small package.”

NASHVILLE – American heavy metal band Stone Sour is touring the nation with a lighting package provided by Bandit Lites. The Grammy nominated group recently released its sixth studio album, Hydrograd, which debuted at No. 8 on Billboard’s 200 chart, and appeared at No. 1 in three categories. Lighting designer Julie Cox fashioned a rig that would fit the direction of simple and clean while still packing a powerful punch. By choosing fixtures that would balance truck space, multiple effects and budget, she crafted a multilayered and emphatic design that could complement the powerhouse band’s sound.

NASHVILLE  – Chris Young is rounding out the year with a new album and a tour run that covers the country as part of Jason Aldean’s They Don’t Know tour. Bandit Lites is providing the lighting package for the award winning artist, whose sixth studio album is set to drop this month and features his most recent single, “Losing Sleep.”  Bandit supplied Elation CuePix Blinder WW2 fixtures, Robe Pointes, Ayrton MagicPanels and Martin Atomic 3000 Strobes.

LAS VEGAS – The Parnelli Awards board of advisors announced that Grammy nominated composer and bassist extraordinaire Tony Levin will be the host for the 17th annual Parnelli Awards, to be held at the Hilton Anaheim on Friday, Jan. 26, 2018 as part of NAMM Live.

SANTA ROSA, CA – The Luther Burbank Center for the Arts, formerly known as the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts, noted that although several performances were cancelled this month due to wildfires in the area and the arts complex sustained significant fire damage, the main building was spared and the venue’s management hopes for performances to be resuming again soon.

NYC – The Innovation Grants are a commitment from USITT to invest in research that will move our industry forward. Each cycle offers up to $110,000 of research funding to explore ideas that will adapt current technology for entertainment use or will create new technology for our industry. These new and innovative proposals will address technology challenges faced by the entertainment industry. The focus of Ian Garrett’s research will be: Emerging Immersive Technology to Time-Shift Live Performance with Augmented and Virtual Reality.

BARRINGTON, RI – Since its founding in 1999, the CVS Health Charity Classic has raised over $20 million for New England charities. The nationally televised event brings some of the top names in golf to compete for a generous prize fund at the Rhode Island Country Club.  This year, the classic’s organizers offered visitors even more attractions beyond the greens with a concert by Grammy winners Huey Lewis and the News, and “Rhode Island Crave,” a food festival featuring a bountiful trove of delicacies from over 80 restaurants and 100 different craft beer and wine selections.
