Making Light at Comics Station

ANTWERP, BE – Belgian creative visual design practice Painting with Light was commissioned to design and install lighting and video at the new 6000 square meter Comics Station Antwerp indoor theme park, located in the city’s famous central station complex. The Painting with Light team collaborated closely with Panasonic Belgium on the AV elements and fully specified the lighting elements of the project, which involved nearly 1300 fixtures being used to illuminate over 60 attractions. These are spread across four stories and six zoned entertainment areas.

LED Screens from WorldStage Picked for “Penn & Teller: Fool Us” Season Four

LAS VEGAS – “Penn & Teller: Fool Us” returns to The CW in July to intrigue TV audiences with season four of the magic competition in which guests attempt to baffle Penn & Teller with tricks they can’t figure out.  WorldStage showed off its broadcast television chops by providing LED and projection support for the hit show at the Penn & Teller Theater in the Rio Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas. Bob Magee, senior account manager at WorldStage, has been involved with “Penn & Teller: Fool Us” since season three.  While the set remains largely the same for the new season, “we increased the efficiency of the install and strike and updated the LED technology,” he reports.

TEL AVIV – When Light Architects Cochavi & Klein were engaged by “The Tripping” production group to create spectacularly different lighting for a special sunset party in the Gan Haslaim (Rock Garden) of Tel Aviv’s famous Yarkon Park, they came up with the concept of a giant “Electronic Sun” positioned 20m high in the air behind the elevated DJ and VIP areas. Based around a 3-ring circular truss, this huge 8 meters diameter backlight structure carried 48 of Robe’s 19-segment Spiider LED fixtures together with 24 of Robe’s fast, ultra-narrow Pointe fixtures, and two dozen 4-light mole-fays. The entire structure was suspended at a pre-tilted angle from a 66m mobile crane.
