UK – After much deliberation, the Theatre judging panel for the 2017 Knight of Illumination (KOI) Awards has announced this year’s shortlist of lighting and video designers, recognized for their creative work in Theatre. The winners will be announced at the tenth anniversary KOI Awards ceremony, to be held at London’s Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith, on 17 September.

Blizzard Lighting’s Cyc Out RGBW fixture does double duty as both a cyc light and a strobe. The Cyc Out comes fitted with 256 (64x R/G/B/W) 3W LEDs with a 60-degree beam angle. Just like classic strobe fixtures, the light is projected forward and enhanced by a parabolic reflector (rather than directly forward, like most LED strobes). The fixture’s beam angle can be shaped using the equipped two leaf barn doors, plus, the strobe rate, intensity, and duration of the pulse are all fully controllable in both standalone and DMX modes. The multi-mode strobe functions include dual zone control and individual strobe rates for each color, plus separate duration and rate controls for impressive, xenon-like blinder effects, all without the need for gel.

STOCKHOLM – Swedish lighting designer Per Sundin relies on Hippotizer Media Servers to impress at prestigious annual music prize event held in the Stockholm Concert Hall. The Polar Music Prize is recognized as one of music’s most prestigious international honors and this year’s ceremony saw Hippotizer Media Servers playing a key part in Sundin Designers Sweden’s lighting and image display for the show.
