HAMBURG, GERMANY: Knight of illumination award-winning video designer Ben Miles has praised the Avolites Ai R6 media servers in their performance for festival opener Coldplay at the star-studded Global Citizen Festival in Hamburg, Germany, ahead of the annual G20 Summit. This year was the first time the event had been held in Europe – and featured performances by world-renowned superstars including Pharrell Williams, Shakira, Ellie Goulding, German superstars Herbert Gronemeyer and Andrea Bourani – all opened by multi-million selling British band Coldplay.
AUSTIN, TX – For a recent collaboration with the Cavalettes Dance Team in Austin, TX, Lake Travis High School students Max Dalton and Trenton Schoonmaker used High End Systems SolaSpot 2000s to take the group’s production, Love, to a new artistic level. The technicians at the Lake Travis PAC are all students enrolled in the Technical Theatre program at Lake Travis High School, and are part of the LTHS Student Chapter of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology.

BOOM, Belgium – Although the main Tomorrowland EDM event in Boom, Belgium once again drew crowds with top EDM artists performing over two weekends in July, the biggest spectacle generating international headlines in 2017 was the fire that engulfed the stage of a “mirror” event in Barcelona, Spain on July 29, forcing the evacuation of 22,000 attendees. A typhoon also forced the cancellation of a similar event in Taiwan.

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE – Amos Lee departed for his 2017 summer tour with both his sixth studio album, Spirit ̧ and a lighting package provided by Bandit Lites in tow. The singer- songwriter, known for his hybrid of blues, rock and folk sound has been bringing his smooth vocals to performances across the country, culminating in his first solo headline tour this fall. Bandit Lites provided Production Manager Drew Consalvo and Lighting Designer Tom Laveuf a package of over 75 fixtures for the tour, making sure to streamline the prep for the daily execution of shows by a single crew member.
WAYNE, N.J. – For the company’s first 4K mobile unit, F&F Productions, LLC, chose 17 FUJINON 4K UHD lenses to outfit the Sony HDC-4300 4K cameras systems on board the newest member of its fleet, the GTX-18 4K HDR Mobile Unit. The new unit will have eight UA107x8.4BESM 4K studio lenses, five UA18x5.5BERD 4K portable zooms, three UA14x4.5BERD 4K portable zooms, and one UA22x8BERD 4K portable lenses.

Clearwing Productions provided MA Lighting consoles and an array of Claypaky fixtures and Robert Juliat followspots. MDG atmospheric hazers were also on hand for the 11-day event, which is billed as the world’s largest music festival.

ONTARIO CANADA – Ontario’s Canada Day celebration at Queen’s Park has been a tradition since 1967 and commemorates the formation of Canada as one country on July 1 1867. The event draws audiences in their thousands, offering music and dance performances, roaming performers, games and children’s activities. This year, the festivities extended into the evening, with musical performances to celebrate Ontario and Canada’s 150th anniversary. Bespoke Audio Visual was brought on board to provide all the audio/ visual/ lighting/ staging and technical support for the event.
