MDG ATMe Haze Generators Go Along for The Ride

UK – Two of the very latest MDG haze generators, the ATMe, recently joined up-and-coming British rock band, Catfish and the Bottlemen, playing arenas during a three-week tour of the UK in support of the band’s second studio album, The Ride. Newcastle-based Nitelites supplied the full lighting, audio and staging to the tour and hired the MDG ATMe haze generators from Impact Productions, which purchased two of the models specifically for the tour.

L’espace Vision Builds Mega Multidock Ingest System Using Blackmagic Multidocks

FREMONT, CA – Blackmagic Design today announced that Tokyo based L’espace Vision has created the Mega MultiDock, an ingest system built around 20 Blackmagic MultiDocks. The system is able to import media from up to 80 SSDs simultaneously and is primarily used for ingesting footage from its live concert recording service, which uses multiple Blackmagic HyperDeck Studio Pro SSD recorders.

Oscars Recovered from Staging Mishap Prior to Envelope Mixup

LOS ANGELES — Oscar ballot counters PricewaterhouseCoopers issued a public apology for the envelope mix-up that foiled their “fail safe” system during the 2017 Academy Awards ceremony on Feb. 26, when presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway received the wrong envelope and announced La La Land as Best Picture. (Moonlight actually won.) Prior to the envelope glitch, during rehearsals at about 11:30 a.m., one of the skyscraper staging elements toppled over, reportedly crushing a camera. Fortunately no one was injured, and the ceremony was able to proceed as originally planned.
