DELTA, BC — The Tsawwassen Mills Mall, which opened last October on Tsawwassen First Nation land, has been reeling customers in with 1.2 million square feet of retail space, making it the fourth largest mega-mall in the Vancouver, BC area. Among the attractions is a series of large-format artwork, including a 45-foot-high sculpture of a salmon leaping from the water. Chris Moreno of ShowTech AVL in Burnaby, BC describes how a Solaris Flare IP RGBW outdoor LED wash fixture lights up the dichroic glass ‘scales’ covering the fish’s metal skeleton.

WESTBURY, NY — Last year, Kenny Rogers announced plans for his 35th Annual and Final “The Gambler’s Last Deal” Christmas & Hits Tour, with holiday-themed shows set from Nov. 25 to Dec. 23, and non-holiday themed shows running into 2017 in response to public demand. Jeffrey Metter, who has worked on Kenny Rogers’ show looks since 1991, opted for an all-Chauvet rig for the shows.

HOUSTON – In the great Texas tradition of going big, Houston welcomed Super Bowl LI with a number of exciting attractions, including the Houston Skylight high atop the George R. Brown Convention Center (GRB).  Houston First Corporation, which maintains GRB, asked Nimblist to conceive and execute the Houston Skylight, a rooftop beacon that marks the center of the city’s cultural activities. Nimblist designer and creative consultant Spike Brant devised an array of 36 Claypaky Supersharpy fixtures, mounted on staging on the GRB roof overlooking Discovery Green park.  

NATIONAL HARBOR, MD — Ever since MGM National Harbor opened its doors to the public Dec. 8, 2016, guests have been impressed by a signature amenity of the resort that is visible upon entering – the 15,000-square foot Conservatory. 4Wall DC was tasked with lighting the soaring interior space enclosed by the 85-foot-tall glass-topped atrium.

HOUSTON — Cat Entertainment Services noted that its technicians were on hand during Super Bowl LI at NRG Stadium to ensure a steady stream of power at the event. In all, the company fielded 16 technicians who were looking after a total of 8,600 kW of generator power, 1,300 kVA of UPS-supported power, and more than seven miles of cable. NORCROSS, GA – Statistically the most diverse worship facility in North America, Victory World Church in Norcross, GA seats up to 12,000 parishioners a week. They broadcast their services to over 6,000 online viewers.
