MOSCOW – The Alfa Future People 2016 electronic music and technology festival attracted 50,000 fans from 20 countries to Bolshoe Kozino, near Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, about 400km east of Moscow. Alfa Bank served as the title sponsor for the three-day, five-stage event. The lineup included a variety of internationally-known DJs including Martin Garrix, Armin Van Buuren, Axwell and Ingrosso, and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. LD Marina Larikova and video designer Yury Vorontsov worked with rental companies Laser Kinetics, Light Logic and LED Group and production company MF Group. Larikova used a Hog 4 to control Clay Paky, Martin and Chromlech fixtures, and Vorontsov used a Catalyst media server and LED DMX strips.

CHICAGO – Jonah Maxwell spent seven months making a short film on an important subject that people his age know more about than us adults. In “The Bully”, the gifted 12 year old filmaker brings to light an important topic, through the eyes of his classmates. Jonah enlisted the help of many of his schoolmates and the school grounds as he conceived, scripted, shot and edited the film. A free summer festival, River Stage hosts a diverse array of artists and acts, from family friendly workshops to energetic riverside raves. Blizzard Lighting’s PixelStorm COB is a high output LED linear wash fixture with pixel mapping effects. This one-meter-long fixture makes use of 12 25W RGBAW COB LEDs for bright color washes and chase patterns. The 5-in-1 RGBAW LEDs promise increased color gamut and reduce multicolored shadowing compared to conventional LEDs. The individually controlled LEDs can be used for dramatic chase effects. BALTIMORE — CBS Radio Baltimore turned to LD Brett Angstadt to give a live-venue look for the station’s new UpClose Performance Studio, which is used for webcasts. Angstadt used a variety of Chauvet fixtures supplied by Showtime Sound, including Rogue R1 Spots, COLORdash Accent Quad RGBAs, COLORdash Par-Hex 7s and Ovation F-165WW units. The rig also includes COLORband PiX RGB bars from Chauvet DJ and Trusst truss.
