Garth Brooks Tour Specifies Kinesys

LAS VEGAS  For Garth Brooks’ “Man Against Machine” tour, the artist is actually working with machinery, including an automated truss setup launched with the latest redesign of the show in late 2015. As part of that redesign, the size of the video screens increased and with that came the need to move them faster. The tour is now using a full Kinesys automation system which was specified by Atlanta Rigging Services (ARS), brought on-board by production to take care of all rigging requirements.

LAS VEGAS – The Electric Daisy Carnival returned to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway June 17-19, 2016. The event marked 20 years of Electric Daisy Carnivals, and the sixth year in Las Vegas. For the circuitGrounds stage, LD Steve Lieberman and SJ Lighting presented a new visual concept that incorporated lighting, video and set / structural design. The architecture was based on a 360 degree coliseum look – classical lines with industrial attitude. The lighting setup included close to 350 Robe fixtures – 212 Pointes, 83 BMFL Spots and 38 BMFL WashBeams.

German Dance Troupe Tours with GLP X4 L Fixtures in Pods

HAMBURG, Germany – LD Jerry Appelt teamed up once again with lighting director / programmer Marc Brunkhardt to craft the looks for Hamburg-based dance group Scooter as the troupe embarked on their Can’t Stop the Hardcore tour. Visiting venues ranging from 5,000 to 12,000 capacity. The focal point of the stage and set design were five raked pods, loaded with lights and flown above the stage to form a scalable roof — and featuring many of the show’s 65 GLP impression X4 L’s.

PILTON, UK – At the 2016 Glastonbury festival, Fineline Lighting provided Chauvet’s Professional’s Rogue R1-FX-B and Maverick MK2 Spot fixtures, adding to the range of looks at the event. Fineline specified 16 Rogue R1 FX-B blade-style fixtures for the WOW! Stage, which was located in Glastonbury’s Silver Hayes area and featured EDM and DJ artists. The company also provided 10 Maverick MK2 Spots at The Circus Big Top (pictured here), where concert music gave way to stage performances by Pirates of the Carabina, Yvette Dusol, Eric McGill and other acts.

130 Arrested in Houston Crime Ring Focusing on Trailer Valuables

HOUSTON — Working with other law enforcement agencies, the Houston Police Department has made 80 arrests so far in an investigation into an organized crime ring that focuses on thefts of valuables transported via trailers. As of June 28, charges had been filed against 130 suspects in Houston and surrounding areas. A key break in the case, dubbed “Operation Wheels and Deals,” took place as police were tracking a van and trailer belonging to country music singer Zane Williams that were stolen outside a Houston-area restaurant on May 16, 2015. A GPS tracking device helped authorities pinpoint the missing trailer, and there they discovered motorcycle apparel and accessories that had been reported stolen in another trailer heist.

National Institute of Dramatic Art near Sydney Adds Robe Fixtures for Foyer Installation

KENSINGTON, Australia – To light the foyer at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), based near Sydney, Adrian Wight and Marcus Kelson from the institute’s lighting department augmented the existing Anolis architectural lighting fixtures used for the space with 16 Robe DLX Spots. NIDA’s assistant technical manager Bryte Cameron credited the Robe fixtures for energy efficiency, low maintenance and their ability to highlight specific areas and elements of any exhibition or artwork.
