CPL Supports Vision 2016 Conference in Bristol, U.K.

BRISTOL, U.K. – The Vision 2016 creative conference drew close to 350 to the Anson Rooms at Bristol University’s Student Union building May 11-12. The event featured 25 talks from leading creatives and innovators. Once again, organizers turned to Central Presentations Ltd (CPL) to deliver full technical production for the two-day inspirational conference. CPL was working for production company Bright and has been involved in the event for the last four years. This year project manager Mike Radford ensured that everything ran smoothly on site, integrating elements of the venue’s house lighting system where possible into the event design.

Rockettes Summer Spectacular Gets Projection Boost from DWP LIVE

NEW YORK – The Radio City Rockettes shined just a little bit brighter during the recent opening night of their New York Summer Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall due to a new projection upgrade for the show. The Madison Square Garden Company called on Nashville-based event production company, DWP Live, to install an upgrade for the theatrical productions at Radio City Music Hall including New York Spectacular and the well-known Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the Radio City Rockettes, in which the annual Christmas production see nearly one million patrons each year.

Francesco de Gregori Tours Italy with Clay Paky Setup

BERGAMO, Italy – LD Andrea Coppini opted for Clay Paky’s Alpha 700 family of lights – the Wash, Spot HPE and Beam – for Italian singer-songwriter Francesco De Gregori’s Amore e Furto (love and larceny) tour. The backbone of the design started with three straight battens fitted with 12 Alpha wash 700s and 15 Alpha spot HPE 700s, plus eight Par LEDs and six blinders. The setup also included six ladders hanging below the last batten, on which nine Alpha Beam 700s were hung, interspersed with 18 Sunstrips. Ten Par LEDs, positioned as side lights, and four other floor-mounted Beam 700s, completed the design.

TIM Music Onstage Awards 2016 in Italy Lit with Clay Paky Fixtures

ROME – For the TIM Music On Stage Awards 2016, honoring live music in Italy in a ceremony held on March 18 and broadcast on Rai 2 and Italian Radio 2, LD Giovanni Pinna used 62 Mythos units, 32 Sharpys and eight Alpha Beam 700s from Clay Paky. The event was hosted by Nicola Savino and the singer Malika Ayane. TV viewers listened and voted on the Internet for the best Italian and international leading artists who performed in major concerts, tours and festivals held in Italy during the year. Their votes were combined with the decision of a jury of experts.

‘Les Feluettes’ Debuts at the Opera de Montreal with Clay Paky Scenius Spots

MONTREAL – Les Feluettes (Lilies) made its world premiere at the Opera de Montreal recently, playing to full houses during its four-night run. Les Feluettes, with a book by Michel Marc Bouchard and music by Kevin March, is a play within a play.  It begins as a prison confessional and unfolds as a love story spanning 1912-1957, a time when same-gender relationships were conducted largely in secret. For Les Feluettes, LD Martin Labrecque lit eight tableaux showing different locations and time periods in monochromatic palettes of amber or blue. He used seven Clay Paky Scenius Spots for the new production.

Brisbane Powerhouse Undergoes Lighting Control Upgrade

BRISBANE, Australia – In August last year, the Brisbane Powerhouse, an arts venue located on the premises of a former powerhouse, upgraded their lighting data distribution system with the installation of a Cat-6 network with Pathport nodes and Pathport manager software. Nine Pathport C-series nodes were installed around the venue where they convert lighting data that has been distributed over the Cat-6 network to DMX. Previously the venue had two cabled universes of DMX and if they were required to expand beyond that, extra cables and infrastructure had to be installed which very time was consuming.

Christie Roadster Series Projectors Light Up Dam in India

JHARKHAND, India— Christie technology helped transform the hillside of Kanke Dam in Jharkhand’s Ranchi district into a canvas for a light show that pays tribute to one of India’s most honored folk heroes, Birsa Munda, who spearheaded the “Ulgulaan” movement that rose against British rule in the 19th century. The 40-minute projection mapping show, titled “Dharti Aaba,” was commissioned by the Indian Tourism Development Corporation  (ITDC).
