Philipp Kirkorov Tour Gets Production Assist from Wicreations

ANTWERP, Belgium – Belgian engineering specialist WIcreations designed and supplied motion control, customized staging and hardware / infrastructure for Russian singer Philipp Kirkorov’s recent tour – “I” (“Я”) – which features an elaborate show design by creative director Franco Dragone. WI has previously worked with Dragone on several projects, explains project manager Koen Peeters, and for this one, the show creators turned to them to provide solutions for several staging conundrums, all of which had to be delivered in an extremely short time frame.

Ampco Flashlight Adds Robe DL7S and LEDBeam 1000s to Rental Inventory

UTRECHT, The Netherlands —Ampco Flashlight Rental BV (AFR) has made a another substantial investment in Robe moving lights. The production and rental company purchased 80 DL7S Profile LED fixtures and 80 LEDBeam 1000s. The new order was delivered via Robe’s Benelux distributor, Controllux, and the lights have been busy ever since on a wide variety of projects, from TV shows to major live events. Long Reach Long Riders Complete 13th Annual Charity Ride

LAS CRUCES, NM — The Long Reach Long Riders recently completed their 13th annual charity motorcycle ride. The ride, which was dubbed The Radioactive Ride by ride marshal Loren Schreiber, raised more than $45,000 for Behind the Scenes and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, bringing the total raised since the LRLR rides began to well over $550,000. It began and ended in Las Cruces, NM, running from June 4-12.

BEL AIR, MD — Harford Community College and Barbizon Capitol will hold the second annual Entertainment Design Expo (EDX) on Thursday, June 23. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the APG Federal Credit Union Arena at Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland. It will feature national and international manufacturers and representatives for a day of exploration and education in entertainment technology.

30th Annual Music Competition in Malaysia Lit with Clay Paky Gear

SHAH ALAM, Malaysia — Anugerah Juara Lagu 30, the 30th annual “Champion of Songs” awards show, was staged Jan. 24, 2016 at the Stadium Malawati in Shah Alam. Malaysia’s TV3 first launched the annual singing competition in 1986. Acoustic & Lighting provided Clay Paky fixtures for the event. The rig included 70 Sharpys, 20 Clay Paky A.leda B-EYE K20s (pictured here), 22 Alpha Wash 1500s and 10 Alpha Spot HPE 1500s.

LD Paul Owen Uses Avolites Control Setup for Hilltop Hoods’ Shows in Australia

SYDNEY – Supporting a five-city tour in by Australian hip hop trio Hilltop Hoods, LD Paul Owen used a control setup that included Avolites’ Sapphire Touch, Tiger Touch II plus Tiger Touch Fader Wing. The group was touring in support of their album, Drinking from the Sun, Walking under Stars Restrung. The April 2016 tour included sold-out shows in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth.

For ‘2016 Ones to Watch Tour,’ LD Robert Sanders Adds Martin Atomic 3000 LED Fixtures

HOUSTON —Freelance LD Robert Sanders put six recently purchased Martin Atomic 3000 LED fixtures to work for Live Nation’s “2016 Ones to Watch Tour.” The tour, which featured up-and-coming alternative rockers Finish Ticket and Vinyl Theatre, kicked off in Florida and wrapped up in Houston. On the road, the new fixtures complemented other  Martin products including four MAC 250 Entour moving head spots and a Jem Compact Hazer Pro haze machine. Sanders used a portable M2GO lighting controller and a Martin M-Touch for control.

R. Kelly ‘Buffet’ Tour Tells Story With Help From Chauvet

COLUMBUS, OH — For an effect that creates bursts of fog that appear to be triggered by R. Kelly as he walks on stage during his show supporting his most recent album, The Buffet, Russell Armentrout, president of Performance Lighting, worked with lighting director Tony Trovato on a setup that uses 24 Vesuvio RGBA high-output LED foggers from Chauvet Professional.
