Projection Backdrop for Glass Bottle Company in South Africa Makes Use of the Company’s Products

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa  – Digital design agency INJOZI worked with Gearhouse Group on an idea for their Consol Glass campaign for Grey Advertising Johannesburg. The brief was to create a projection surface using the client’s product, in this case glass bottles. The result (pictured here) was used as a backdrop for a variety of performance scenarios. The campaign incorporated a video shoot as well as various activations around the country, so the surface needed to be able display patterns and text effectively as well as be assembled and dissembled quickly and safely for touring purposes.

LONDON – Dostoevsky’s classic novel, Crime and Punishment, recently made its debut as a rock opera at the Moscow Musical Theatre with innovative staging by renowned director Andrei Konchalovsky.  Technical partner Polymedia integrated CAST BlackTrax real-time motion tracking system with a d3 media server.  Together they accomplish 6D video mapping on the show’s scenic elements.

Eurovision 2016 Setup Includes Philips Vari-Lite Fixtures

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Philips Lighting noted that Eurovision 2016 lighting designer Fredrik Jönsson used 40 Philips Vari-Lite VL3500 Wash luminaires to light the audience  for the big Euro music competition’s finals. The Eurovision Song Contest 2016 was held at Stockholm’s Globe Arena and saw a live audience of 15,000 international fans, journalists and celebrities. Also, Eurovision announced official global viewing figures for the grand final reached 204 million.

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – Sets, Drapes, Screen (SDS) took delivery of an additional 14 AV Stumpfl screens (a mixture of the manufacturer-patented FullWhite borderless screens and wide-format screens), this May.  The new stock will be evenly deployed between the Cape Town and Johannesburg branches to ensure a mirrored stock holding in both centers. The busy set company has also invested in the same make of borderless screens tailor-made for the Cape Town International Convention Centre, where sister Company INHOUSE Venue Technical Management is the venue’s in-house supplier. SDS has also increased their Gerriets screen stock with a range of screens.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Nearly 100 Robe BMFLs – 88 x BMFL Blades and 6 x BMFL Spots – proved an importat part of Fredrik Jonsson’s lighting design for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. The semi-finals and finals were staged in the Globe Arena in Stockholm with a capacity live audience of around 10,000 plus an estimated 180 million television viewers worldwide.
