USITT To Honor 10 Rising Theatre Artists with 2016 YD&T Awards on March 17
SALT LAKE CITY – USITT noted that 10 up-and-coming theatre artists will get special recognition through its Young Designers & Technicians Awards program with a ceremony set for March 17, during the association’s annual convention. The YD&T Awards honor designers and technicians early in their careers. It is supported with funding from industry sponsors. This year’s awards ceremony will also feature remarks by Steve Younkins, creator of Q2Q Comics, a web comic devoted to theatre tech. Zhao is due to receive an MFA degree from the University of California-San Diego the same month as the USITT event.

Jacqui Honess-Martin’s tragi-comedy focuses on a group of 20-somethings from mixed backgrounds and experiences sell Christmas trees from a street outlet, with lighting for scenes ranging from early morning to midnight during the month of December.
