In Memoriam: Kevin McCloy, 53

CUSTER, WA — Kevin “Kev McFalcon” McCloy, 53, died June 19, 2015 after a battle with bladder cancer. He served as an ETCP-certified touring rigger for Sarah McLachlan, Lilith Fair, Barenaked Ladies and the Tragically Hip, among others, and served as lead rigger for the opening ceremonies at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

Bandit Lights Music City Food and Wine Festival in Nashville

NASHVILLE – More than 2,500 people attended Nashville’s third annual Music City Food + Wine Festival. Bandit Lites provided the lighting package for the festival, which took place Sept. 19 and 20. Following a survey of the site, Bandit Vice President Mike Golden and Project Manager Shawn Lear recommended a circle truss as an architectural focal point, using lights to create the appearance of festoons. Clay Paky Sharpys lit the tops of the tents around the grounds, while GRNLite Pars and VL 3500 Washes provided general color wash of the audience.

Chauvet Fixtures Create Light Art at “Der Liebe Gott” Exhibition

HAMBURG, Germany – The Frappant, an underground art gallery and artists residence in Hamburg’s Altona borough, was the site of a noted avant-garde exhibition “Der liebe Gott” (The Dear God). Among the pieces attracting the most attention during the 10-day event was light artist Boris Frentzel-Beyme’s “Deus luminogaster.” It makes use of carefully placed Freedom Pars from Chauvet DJ to make its powerful impression.
