Behind the Scenes UK Announces Card Aid Program

LONDON – Behind the Scenes UK, the newly launched charity that aims to provide financial support to entertainment technology professionals when they are ill or injured, is calling on companies and individuals to send their annual Christmas cards via Card Aid this year. Card Aid has been helping charities increase their funds from the sale of their Christmas cards for over 30 years and John Simpson, Chair of Behind the Scenes UK, believes proceeds from the sale of Christmas Cards via the Card Aid Website will really make a difference to Behind the Scenes, which only launched in the UK in October.

The set includes a number of video elements that are key to the music-based quiz show, which is hosted by Rhod Gilbert. This series is recorded at Stage 9 of Elstree Television Studios and broadcast on BBC2.

Complete Production Resources Lights Up Firestone Live in Orlando with Chauvet Professional Gear

ORLANDO – Firestone Live, a 20,000 square foot venue that rose to prominence in the 1990s, recently completed an extensive remodeling that lowered the club’s stage and included a new trussing rig to expand the space available for the overhead lighting system. Working with a design from Impulse Creative Group, Complete Production Resources equipped the venue with sixteen Legend 412 RGBW LED moving washes, eight Q-Wash 436Z LED RGBW moving washes, eight Legend 330SR Spot moving fixtures, eight COLORado 1-Tri Tour par-style fixtures and one Amhaze II water-based haze machine.  A grandMA on a PC with a fader wing controls the rig.

BROOKLYN, NY — The inaugural New York Festival of Light (NYFOL) lit up Brooklyn’s DUMBO neighborhood Nov. 6, 7 and 8 and drew such a huge crowd people had to be turned away on Sat. Nov. 8. Clay Paky fixtures played a key role, and the company’s Supersharpy fixtures made their U.S. debut.

COLOGNE, Germany – Since songwriter Wolfgang Niedecken formed BAP in the late 1970s, the band has released 16 studio albums and the band members have performed around the world. The band’s latest tour, “BAP zieht den Stecker,” may translate to “BAP pulls the plug,” but LD Peter Seifertur (Cue Design) saw to it that the band was still well-lit. For their open-air concert at Salzkotten, near Paderborn, Seifertur specified a rig that included a variety of Clay Paky fixtures.

Vance Joy Tour Rig Includes Clay Paky Fixtures

UK Australian singer-songwriter Vance Joy recently embarked on his first U.K. tour, with an array of Clay Paky A.Leda B-EYE K20 fixtures helping create the shows’ diverse lighting looks. Specified from Siyan Ltd by lighting designer Liam Tully, the B-EYEs made up the floor package, with two mounted on each side of the stage and two on the drum risers.

U.K. Theme Park Fireworks Show Includes Visuals Controlled by Jands Vista Gear

ALTON, Staffordshire, UK – Alton Towers Resort, based here, marked the end of the 2014 theme park season with their “Ultimate Fireworks Spectacular.” Simon Horsley, Alton Towers Resort’s technical manager, designed supplementary show visuals with cues managed by a Jands Vista control system. Horsley’s lighting design made use of more than 150 fixtures, including lighting gear from Martin, Clay Paky and Robe. For video projected on a water spray screen, the setup included a Green Hippo video playback system with cues controlled via a laptop PC running the same Vista v2 software as the main control desk.

Large-Format Projection Brings “Glasgow’s War” to Life

GLASGOW, Scotland – Glasgow City Council commissioned The Projection Studio’s Ross Ashton and Karen Monid to create a new large-format video projection show, “Glasgow’s War,” on the front of their City Chambers building to commemorate the centenary of the First World War. The 27 minute show, portraying World War I from a Glasgow perspective, involved meticulous research. Ashton’s visuals were accompanied by a soundtrack by Monid.
