LONDON – LD Steven Bewley is using a primarily Clay Paky rig to light trip-hop trio London Grammar for the band’s current U.K. tour. The rig includes 36 Sharpy, 8 Sharpy Wash, 16 A.leda B-EYE, 18 Alpha Spot 1500 HPE and 16 A.Leda K5 Wash fixtures.
NEW YORK – For that live music segments featured as part of its Summer Concert Series, NBC’s The Today Show has been using Clay Paky’s A.leda B-EYE K20 LED-based moving lights. LD Peter Greenbaum cited B-EYE’s daylight color as one of his favorite attributes for the fixture. “We do a lot of interviews with the talent on stage and The Today Show hosts with their backs to the audience,” Greenbaum said. “We go daylight in the B-EYEs and get a beautiful video level so there’s no need for HMIs. Their color temperature is pretty amazing.”

MILAN, Italy – “Radio Italia Live” has emerged as an annual showcase for Italian performers since the extravaganza was first staged in 2012 to mark Radio Italia’s 30th anniversary. Designer Giancarlo Toscani opted to make Clay Paky’s A.leda B-EYEs a big part of the 2014’s event’s lighting looks. LONDON — Organizers of the annual Knight of Illumination (KOI) awards, to be held Oct. 5, 2014 during PLASA London, announced a new venue for this year’s ceremony: The Troxy, an Art Deco theatre and concert venue in East London. The venue, originally built as one of the largest cinemas in 1930’s England, is a grade II listed building that has played host to such 1940s-era standouts as the Andrews Sisters and Dame Vera Lynn to, in more recent years, Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker and electro-pop trio London Grammar. This year’s event, the seventh annual ceremony, is being organized by the ALD, Ambersphere, Clay Paky and the STLD.

LED Expo takes place annually in both Delhi and Mumbai, and is the only event in the industry focused solely on LED products. Media Expo occurs once a year in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata and is the largest exhibition for the signage and advertising industry. MILTON KEYNES, U.K. – Working with video director Blue Leach, Creative Technology provided video gear in support of a 12-show U.K./European tour leg that was part of Pearl Jam’s ongoing world tour in support of the band’s 10th studio album, Lighting Bolt, which was released last fall. The tour leg began in Amsterdam in mid-June and finished with a concert here July 11. The shows featured a form of I-Mag (in black and white), a rarity for the band’s live shows.

SUNRISE, FL – For Third Eye Blind’s 2014 Spring/Summer Tour, LD Mitch Schellenger has been using a rig with 22 Nexus 4×4 LED panels from Chauvet Professional, based here. Chauvet Professional relayed Schellenger’s comments on how he was able to use the fixtures within a lighting design that takes its inspiration from the hues of a sunset – including the “green flash” phenomenon noted by some who have watched the setting sun.
