ETC CUE Registration Now Open

MIDDLETON, WI  – ETC announced that it is now registering attendees for its once-every-two-years educational event, CUE. The 2013 event takes place July 22-25 in Madison, WI. CUE 2013 will feature hands-on training, classes, factory tours, a welcome reception, a picnic with live music performed by ETC employees, and keynote addresses by ETC CEO Fred Foster and Tony Award-winning LD Don Holder.

In Memoriam: Wayne Forman, 52

LOS ANGELES — Wayne Forman, owner of Waynos Catering, died April 7 after a battle with cancer of the kidney. He was 52. Waynos Catering supported live concert tours for Red Hot Chili Peppers (RHCP), Pearl Jam, Def Leppard, REM and Eric Clapton, among other artists, and also provided on-location meals for crews filming Scent of a Woman, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Meet Joe Black and Unfaithful.

Italy – Italian singer-songwriter Eros Ramazzotti opened his 2013 European tour in Italy last month, with Tait helping to bring his set design to life. The show opens with the main stage closed down and covered by the projection ceiling, a custom scenic element that consists of six geometric pieces. Each piece then flies away to reveal Ramazzotti and his band. These elements created a 3-D projection ceiling giving LD/set designer Jvan Morandi the versatility to form striking shapes and aerial effects during the show.

LONDON – Lighting designer Rick Fisher chose ETC‘s Selador Desire LED fixtures to help light the recent production of David Hare’s The Judas Kiss at the Duke of York’s Theatre in London. “For the kind of work I’m doing – a subtle piece with the lighting concentrating on moods, emotional states, and times of day – I wanted lighting which doesn’t draw attention to itself,” says Fisher. “The Desire fixtures give a very nice, natural looking light, which was a pleasant surprise and a real advance.”
