STOCKHOLM – Swedish singer songwriter Petra Marklund has been touring with a stage set fabricated largely from more than 3,000 SGM LED Balls (LB-100) rigged as an overhead, interactive spatial canopy. Originally designed as a video light curtain, with low-resolution 120mm pixel pitch, the LB-100 display is made up from long strings, each containing seven white semi-transparent LED balls. Each sphere contains two RGB LEDs to create a 3-D effect when viewed through 360 degrees.

MIAMI — Three crew members were injured, two critically, when a section of video screen panels suspended some 30 feet above the Ultra Music Festival’s main stage fell during load-in at Bayfront Park here just before 8 p.m. March 14. After extensive safety checks during daylight hours March 15 by federal OSHA inspectors, the fire marshal and structural engineers, the main stage was approved for use and the festival, set for performances on March 15-17 and 22-24, proceeded as planned.

AMSTERDAM — The Netherlands’ new multi-use indoor arena Ziggo Dome has been outfitted with more than 400 ETC Selador LED fixtures. Ziggo Dome’s facilities manager Ruud Bongers says, “We were keen to include a lighting scheme that extended from simply onstage to the whole arena, making the house lights part of the show lights. At the touch of a button, we can make the house lighting change color, brighten, or dim; and it can all be done from one of nine touch panels located around the building.”
