Hog 4 Debuts on Muse Tour

LONDON – Longtime Muse LD Oli Metcalfe is the first LD to use the new High End Systems Hog 4 control system. During a string of shows in the UK and Europe, Metcalfe swapped his Full Boar console for the new Hog 4 desk. The designer says he enjoys the extra real estate afforded by the Hog 4, but appreciates the familiar ergonomics of the Hog family of control systems. While getting up to speed with the Hog 4 was effortless for Oli, this tour is Muse’s most complex production to date, with control and networking perfection being integral to its success.

From The Edge Exhibit on Display at NYC Gallery

NEW YORK – Works from a US national exhibit of edgy theatrical designs assembled for the 2011 Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space will be shown Dec. 6-16 at La MaMa’s La Galleria in New York. From the Edge, a collection of works from 36 politically compelling productions across America, was commissioned and sponsored by USITT (the United States Institute for Theatre Technology). Included are works from Tony-award winning designer Kevin Adams’ lighting for the Broadway show American Idiot, and Paul Chan’s Waiting for Godot set in post-Hurricane Katrina New Orleans, among others.

Vectorworks Releases Spanish-Language Product Line

COLUMBIA, MD – Nemetschek Vectorworks, Inc., a provider of CAD and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software solutions, has released the Spanish-language version of the Vectorworks 2013 line of design software, including: Vectorworks Designer, Architect, Landmark, Spotlight, Fundamentals and Renderworks. The Spanish-language version is available throughout the Americas, the Caribbean and Spain.

Robert Juliat Aids Behind the Scenes with iPad Donation

STAMFORD, CT — Behind the Scenes (BTS) got a boost recently from Robert Juliat. The lighting equipment manufacturer donated an iPad for BTS’ raffle event at PLASA Focus, which raised $2,400 for the charity. Four New Standards in Public Review

NEW YORK – Four new standards, now in public review through the end of this year, include two proposed reaffirmations of existing standards (relating to DMX512-A and fog equipment), one revised standard (relating to GFCIs) and one new standard (also relating to DMX512-A). The public review materials for the four standards are available at the PLASA website.

Avolites Tiger Touch 6.1 Debuts on Level 42 Anniversary Tour

LONDON – Lighting designer Yenz Nyholm used his Avolites Tiger Touch to help reignite the memories of Level 42 fans when the band performed at London’s Royal Albert Hall. He programmed both the lighting and the video through his Avolites’ Tiger Touch 6.1, which now features enhancements and updates that have advanced the console’s capability. He said, “The best thing for me is the cue stacking. You can display your cue list and each individual cue’s parameters on the screens, but better still you can go in and change every parameter without having to be in the cue itself. This has been a massive time saving device.”
