CSL Supplies Newly-Acquired Alpha Spots to moe. Tour

NORTH CREEK, NY – Creative Stage Lighting Co. took delivery of Clay Paky’s Alpha Spot QWO 800 ST fixtures for its inventory than they deployed eight of them for jam band moe.’s continuing U.S. tour.  LD Jason Huffer, LD for moe., first saw the fixtures in an online video and thought they would work well for the tour. “It’s not a huge production. They’re on the upstage truss and meet my needs for something lightweight, not too large yet with a great feature set.”

WorldStage Helps Turn High Line into Real Life ‘Project Runway’

NEW YORK – Strollers on the Chelsea Market passage of the High Line (a linear park built on a former elevated NY Central Railroad) got to strut their stuff, pose and collect nods of approval as they walked a virtual runway to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Lifetime’s “Project Runway.”  WorldStage facilitated the installation of a 20-ft long interactive videowall, which used human tracking technology to mix the realtime virtual emotions of show host Heidi Klum, mentor Tim Gunn and judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia as they reacted to the fashion sense of passersby seeking their moment on the runway.

Bandit Lites Brings Sights to Sounds of Moogfest

ASHEVILLE, NC – Bandit Lites worked with LD Brooke Kimble to light the mainstage of Moogfest Oct. 26-27 in Ashville, NC. The event was a benefit and sonic tribute of sorts to Robert Moog, electronic visionary of the Moog synthesizer. Headliners included Primus 3D, Santigold, Thomas Dolby, Orbital and others.

Barco MCM-400

Barco’s MCM-400 is a new warping, blending and color matching external component for the company’s Galaxy 4K projectors. Designed to enhance geometry correction, color correction, and electronic blending, the MCM-400 includes a real-time on-screen user interface and allows for several multi-channel configurations with multiple 4K projectors. The MCM-400 handles both mono and stereo sources up to 48 Hz. Four dual link DVI-D inputs allow 4K sources to be connected in four quadrants of 2048 by 1080 pixels, or two columns of 2048 by 2160 pixels. Both mono and stereo sources of 24 Hz or 48 Hz are shown synchronously with the input, with a minimal delay.

Games Time for dbn Lighting

MANCHESTER, UK – dbn designed and supplied a ground support system for the “Games Time” outdoor stage spectacular, which played its final performance recently at Derby. The show, produced by Walk The Plank and Déda, was a mixed-media performance combining music, dance, video, lighting and pyrotechnics. Four teams sporting carnival style costumes competed to win the ‘Games Time’ Finale.

Martin’s VC-Dots Draw Attention at InnoTrans Booth

BERLIN – At this year’s InnoTrans exhibition in Berlin, transportation company Bombardier integrated Martin Professional’s new VC-Dot 1 LED strings into an aluminum art structure used to simulate train traffic across the globe. The structure – designed by Ambion – used 2,000 of the individually controllable pixel dots and attracted visitors to their booth throughout the show.

KITCHENER, Ontario –  Christie Digital technology has been entertaining visitors at Canada’s Wonderland theme park with “Starlight Spectacular,” a projection mapping display that brings Wonderland Mountain to life each evening. Four Christie Roadster S+20K 3-chip DLP projectors equipped with Christie Twist Pro display fire breathing dragons, the changing seasons, ripple effects in a kaleidoscope of colors, and a mountain that appears to crumble – among other imagery.

Robe at the Paris Motor Show

PARIS – More than 200 Robe LEDWash 600 RGBW LED moving lights were central to Peter Heilig’s lighting design concept for the BMW and Mini booths and press launches at the Paris Motor show. Germany’s Rock Service supplied the fixtures for the event at the Paris Expo, Porte de Versailles. LD Heilig specified the Robe fixtures after having used them at the Geneva Motor show earlier in the year.
