Dangling Crane Atop NYC Building Adds to Woes for Carnegie Hall

NEW YORK — Most of Broadway’s theatres reopened their doors Oct. 31, despite limited mass transit to get show-goers from their rain-soaked homes and into their seats, but Carnegie Hall was being haunted by a ghoulish spectre left in Sandy’s wake that prevented it from opening on Halloween, a dangling rooftop crane on the building across the street. NEW YORK — A benefit concert, Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together, featuring New Jersey native Bruce Springsteen, Staten Island native Christina Aguilera, Long Island native Billy Joel and New Jersey native Jon Bon Jovi is set to air Nov. 2 at 8 pm (EST) on NBC-affiliated stations, cable networks and websites. DALLAS – The Buford Community Center, Town Park and Theatre is a new facility designed by BRPH architectural and engineering firm. The facility includes the 290-seat Sylvia Beard Theatre, designed by Graham, Swift and Company, which specified an Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) dimming system and a Palette VL control console from Philips Strand Lighting. The products solved their issues of space – having no ability for a separate dimmer room – and wanting a console system that was user friendly.

PARK CITY, UT – Land Rover North America partnered with Dallas-based production company Corporate Magic to stage a reveal of its fourth generation new flagship model, unveiled Oct. 22 to its North American retailers. The reveal event featured a video projection on the side of a mountain at the Montage Deer Valley Resort in Park City, UT. Screens were supplied by GoVision. Meetings were also held indoors at the resort, requiring a separate video projection setup.

Dataton Provides Haunting Projection at Muncaster Castle

MUNCASTER, UK – Muncaster Castle has a reputation as one of the most haunted buildings in the UK. For their busiest Halloween ever, the castle has upgraded to version 5 of Dataton’s Watchout to ensure that the multimedia experience it offers is as compelling – and as scary – as it has ever been. Mirage Associates has supported  the castle, advising on content and system setup. “The projectors are in custom-made, weather-proof housings, and there is one computer for each tower of the Castle,” explains Steve Selwyn of Mirage. “Each show is on a 20-minute loop, synchronized with audio and lighting, and is shown to an audience of between 200 and 600 people each evening. It is a huge enhancement to the Castle’s visitor experience.”

LEXINGTON, KY – Rupp Arena wanted a spectacular launch for the Kentucky Wildcat’s 2012-13 season, so Bob Stoops, Technical Services Manager, contacted XL Video to specify and supply equipment and crew for a projection directly on to the 94×50 ft basketball court. As the court became a screen, the rousing video was the perfect introduction, and got the 23,500-strong crowd pumped and ready for the scrimmage.
