Robe Beams on Europe’s Melt Festival

Gräfenhainichen, Germany – Robe moving lights were used at the 2012 Melt Festival, an indie electronica-meets-rock festival in Europe. Lighting equipment for the Main and Gemini stages was supplied by Berlin-based TSE AG. The production design called for a flexible rig that could cater to the artists performing over the three days, many of whom brought their own lighting designers and specials packages and also hooked in to the house rigs.

Christie Hosts Solutions Showcase

CYPRESS, CA – Christie Digital, along with Draper Inc., Alcorn McBride and Tannoy hosted “Solutions that Rock,” a free event introducing several of its new display solutions to organizations involved with professional AV rental staging, fixed installs and corporate AV environments. The event took place Sept. 17-19 at Grips Local Union Building in Burbank, CA. The road show wraps up its tour with stops Nov. 7-8 in Philadelphia and in Phoenix Dec. 3-5.

Starlite Upgrades 19th Century School with 21st Century Technology

TRENTON, NJ – Starlite Productions, in coordination with design consultants Schuler Shook and electrical contractors A.C. Scott, upgraded the theatrical lighting and rigging for The Lawrenceville School located just north of Trenton, NJ. The new power and control systems installed are an example of the hybrid systems that are becoming more prevalent in today’s production lighting.  The theater staff still relies heavily on traditional dimming, but is now also able to bring LEDs, moving lights, and other effects units seamlessly into their productions.

XL Video Supplies The xx Tour Projection

LONDON – XL Video is supplying a high power projection system and Green Hippo Hippotizer i7 HD media servers for UK indie band The xx, who are in the middle of an 18-month world tour. Much of the show is about video being used as a light source for creating moods and atmosphere, silhouetting the band, or capturing them starkly in the projector beam paths with undulating multicolor gobo-like effects and fluid, subtle laser-like moments.
