MIAMI – Barco teamed up with broadcast/event producer SennovA, to create the visual centerpiece for the Ultra Music Festival in Miami. The partners delivered a 3D projection mapping display which covered 29 floors of the Intercontinental Miami Hotel exterior with bold, animated imagery. Four FLM-HD20 and eight FLM R22+ large event projectors were used to create the projection mapping installation on the 15,000 sq. ft. surface.

The auction, which took place Sept. 10 at PLASA in London, netted £6,200 – more than $10,000 – for Light Relief, the U.K.-based charity for industry professionals in dire straits.

In its 14th season, the FIT is showcasing the work of eight local theatre companies as well as showcasing the capabilities of the new Selecon PLCyc LED Luminaire from Philips Strand Lighting. Motley Crue’s programmer/operator Michael Cooper is using 18 Universes, two Art-Net lines for the Catalyst Media Server, and SMPTE time code. KISS programmer/operator Sean Hackett migrated to grandMA2 for the tour after using the flagship grandMA console for the last eight years.

LONDON — In its 21st year, PLASA 2012 marks the final staging of the annual exhibition at Earls Court & Olympia before the show moves to ExCeL London (and the month of October) for 2013. Along with panel sessions on the industry’s involvement in this year’s Diamond Jubilee and London 2012 Olympics, there were plenty of new lighting and video products on display.
