Atmosphere Lighting and Rental Company Announces Ownership Changes, Updates

SILVER SPRING, MD – Lighting production/equipment rental company Atmosphere, Inc. announces a change in ownership and management, with the addition of longtime associates Benji Tschudin and Andrew Platt as new shareholders and officers. In addition, Jessica Warner has been promoted to general manager. The company also recently updated its lighting inventory, beefed up its inventory control system and expanded its warehouse and trucking support operations.

LAS VEGAS — Cory Wells, one of the founders of the seminal rock band 3 Dog Night, will be hosting the Parnelli Awards in Las Vegas on Oct. 20, executive producer Terry Lowe announced. The band had 21 Top 40 hits, and Wells sang nine of them, including “Mama Told Me Not to Come,” “Never Been to Spain” and “Try a Little Tenderness.”

NEW YORK – After more than a decade in Long Island City, WorldStage has moved its administrative offices to midtown Manhattan in a newly-designed space at 259 West 30th St. The new neighborhood offers many advantages from proximity to clients and popular event spaces to the convenience of nearby Penn Station and the New Jersey warehouse. LIVERPOOL, UK – Theatrical entertainment specialists Stage Electrics supplied Europe’s first ETC Gio lighting control console to the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA). The Gio is the newest edition to ETC’s Eos family. LIPA regularly upgrades resources to stay current with industry standards. With this in mind they turned to Stage Electrics to research into upgrading their main theatre style desk, which will be used by students on the BA (hons) Theatre and Performance Technology program.

PLASA Rigging Conference Announces Speakers, Programs

LONDON – The 3rd annual PLASA Rigging Conference will welcome more than 200 international attendees at the Earls Court Conference Centre in London on Sept. 11-12. Opening with a speech from original ‘Disney Rigger’ Roy Bickel, a founder of the modern rigging industry and closing with ‘Question Time’ hosted by Alan Jacobi LVO, MD of Unusual Rigging, the Conference is packed with sessions from industry experts. LAS VEGAS – The recent 5LINX company’s sales meeting at the Las Vegas Convention Center was a “moving experience” with the Christie YK100 moving yoke system. 5LINX staged a multimedia awards presentation using lighting and pyrotechnics displays on a 64-ft wide by 40-ft deep multi-tiered stage. A Christie YK100 moving yoke system, along with several Christie projectors, helped create the visuals.

dbn Follows Cycle Song to the Moon

SCUNTHORPE, UK – dbn supplied lighting equipment and design for the recent production of “Cycle Song” on the grounds of Brumby Hall, Scunthorpe.The show told the story of Albert ‘Lal’ White, Scunthorpe steelworker and award-winning cyclist. dbn’s Pete Robinson created a lighting design for the show. It featured a stark atmospheric distressed industrial set designed by Rhys Jarman, a cast of hundreds and two massive cranes, which were used in the finale to help the moon rise.
