NASHVILLE – LD Tom Kenny specified more than 100 Robe moving lights for the 2012 Country Music Television (CMT) Awards June 6 at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. This was the fourth time Kenny lit the CMT Awards, but his first time to use Robe’s MMX Spots. He credited those fixtures and Robe’s LEDWash 500s for their lumens and speed, saying they “proved themselves in every cue.”

TORONTO – When San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge recently celebrated its 75th birthday, the lighting and pyro display came as a complete surprise to thousands of spectators. Lightswitch’s Norm Schwab and Prelite’s Tom Thompson used the WYSIWYG previsualization suite from CAST Software to perfect the design in the studio before going live. HARLOW, Essex, UK – Performing arts school Makin’ Steps’ annual shows have grown into larger spectacles since 1998, each year getting more creatively and technically ambitious. This year they asked London-based Colour Sound Experiment (CSE) for help with lighting, trussing, rigging, power distribution and crew. The four days of sold-out shows covered six decades of popular music since the Queen’s coronation in 1952.

LONDON – France TV Sport is covering the Olympic Games with a temporary TV studio on the Thames, outfitted with ETC’s Source Four LED profile spotlight providing the majority of the light. The station has rented 48 ETC Source Four LED Lustr+ Zoom 25-50-degree luminaires to help with their energy usage. The technical directors also like the fixture’s color mixing system, which allows them to achieve the natural skin tones needed for TV broadcasting.
