Radiohead Alters European Concert Schedule After Stage Collapse

TORONTO — In the wake of the June 16 stage roof collapse at Downsview Field here, which killed drum tech Scott Johnson, injured three others, and destroyed the band’s unique lighting and audio setup, Radiohead has announced the postponement of seven shows that had been scheduled in Europe from June 30 (in Rome) through July 9 (in Switzerland). The tour is expected to resume July 10 in the south of France.

NEW YORK CITY – ABC’s “Good Morning America” has kicked off its 2012 Summer Concert Series using an LED screen from GoVision LP. The Argyle,TX-based supplier is providing a 9-ft tall x 32-ft wide high-definition, modular LED screen for the live, weekly shows that began May 25 and run through August in Central Park.

Lighting, Video Companies Team Up to Support Eurovision 2012

BAKU, Azerbaijan – Major production companies across Europe — but mostly from Germany — supplied the technical equipment for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, staged here in late May at the purpose-built 23,000-seat Baku Crystal Hall. The complexity of the production demanded long rosters of gear and staff for lighting and video support, to the specs of the design team headed by Jerry Appelt (lighting) and Florian Wieder (stage design).

ETC Source 4 LED Wins ABTT Award

LONDON – ETC’s LED Source 4 won Lighting Product of the Year at an Association of British Theatre Technicians (ABTT) show ceremony in London. The ABTT judges commended the Source 4 LED for its “good light output, flat beam, crisp imaging, and the ability to change color.”
