XL Video Sets the Scene for Fatboy Slim

BRIGHTON, UK – XL Video supplied 200 square meters of LED screen, cameras, crew and more to Fatboy Slim’s Fifth Beach Bootique show, which was the first entertainment event to be staged at the new Amex Community Stadium at Falmer, Brighton, UK. The wide-screen design created for the stage comprised seven screens. This was a collaborative concept evolved by Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim), creative director Tim Fleming, production manager Mark Ward and LD Steven Abbiss.

Pharos Controls Vancouver Landmark

VANCOUVER – Vancouver’s BC Place stadium has become a new landmark, due to the new lighting effects system. Controlling the Lumenpulse LED fixtures is a Pharos LPC 60 programmed with the Pharos Designer software. It allows fine-tuned cues to be executed by lighting consoles for big budget halftime shows and by scorekeepers for touchdowns and crowd messages, while allowing building systems to handle the necessary architectural commands and astronomical automation for pre-dawn and after sunset lighting displays.

In Memoriam: Eddy Shenker, Jam Industries Co-Chairman

TORONTO — Eddy Shenker, co-chairman of Jam Industries Ltd., died June 11, 2012 after a short battle with cancer. He was 70. Shenker and Marty Golden formed Jam Industries in 1974. During his 38 years with the company, Shenker played a key role in developing it into a unique distribution network made up of 13 Canadian and U.S. divisions.

As there are no hanging points in the cathedral, built back in the late 1800s, Sapsis provides more than a dozen chain hoists for the lighting and row of flags. LONDON – London’s Royal Opera House has replaced its aging HMI Fresnels with Robert Juliat Cin’k 326 LFV 2.5K HMI Fresnels. The Cin’ks use the same ballasts, header cables and many spare parts as the Robert Juliat D’Artagnan HMI Profiles, which the ROH already had in house, so they say this new acquisition streamlines stock control,makes maintenance easy for them and are aesthetically more pleasing when viewed from the FOH.
