As part of the festivities, the city produced an opening ceremony, Path of Pearls, which was packed with imagery and effects. Created by a lineup of lighting designers including John Lee Beatty, Michael Curry, Ralph Funicello, Andrew Hefter, Cindy White and David Zinn, proceeds from card orders benefit the ESTA Foundation’s Behind the Scenes program. Orders will be taken until Sept. 7 so that cards can be delivered by early November.
