Godspell Returns to Broadway with Pulsar

FARMINGDALE, NY — The 1971 musical Godspell returned to Broadway in November at the Circle in the Square Theatre with a new show, new cast, new design. LD is David Weiner, whose lighting scheme showcases PRG-customized Pulsar LEDs incorporated into vintage fixtures to preserve the production’s continuity and set design.

Mayoral Inauguration Elects 4Wall NY for Event Gear

PHILADELPHIA – When tasked with lighting the 192nd Mayoral Inauguration for Michael Nutter, Executive Producer Scott Mirkin and Lighting Designer Scott Clyve elected to use equipment provided by 4Wall Entertainment in New York. The space was a 37,500 square foot lobby of the Pennsylvania Convention Center where house lighting was not an option. Adding to the challenge, Clyve, Lagler and Producer Scott Mirkin were expected to create a multi-functional stage design to support dance and live musical performances.

Kreon Appoints Darin Fowler as GM North American HQ

NEW YORK – Belgium-based architectural lighting manufacturer Kreon Inc, appoints Darin Fowler as General Manager of North American operations. Fowler, headquartered in New York City, will oversee all sales, customer service and marketing in the US and Canada. Fowler most recently was Regional Sales Manager at High End Systems, specializing in lighting for fixed installations. Before that, he was Senior Designer/Project Manager for NY-based Schwinghammer Lighting and also Johnson Light Studio, with his career start at Focus Lighting.

OSRAM Ostar Stage LEDs

SUNNYVALE, CA – New OSRAM Ostar Stage LEDs have a flatter profile, a narrow beam angle and higher luminance than before. They are now only 1.23 mm high – one-quarter of the usual height – enabling a much more compact spotlight design. The glass cover on the new LEDs has been optimized for injection of the light into lens systems. The LEDs can be used in spotlights of any size, from small stage spotlights to large moving head luminaires.

Pete’s Big TVs Provides Video Production for Jazz in the Gardens

NEW CASTLE, DE – For the sixth consecutive year, Pete’s Big TVs provided Jazz in the Gardens Music Festival with LED screens and a full video production system and crew. The March 17-18 event took place at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, FL. Equipment choice was influenced by a few factors. As the concerts each day started at 3 pm and ran until 11 pm, screen resolution was important, along with the ability to withstand weather conditions.

Barco Enlivens Super Bowl Halftime Show with Projection Mapping

Rancho Cordova, CA  – DWP Live and LMG, Inc. selected Barco’s FLM H20 large venue projectors to create a dynamic visual showcase highlighting Madonna’s performance for the Super Bowl halftime show. The show turned the stage and a 149 x 80 ft. field projection area into a showcase of surreal video imagery. The large-scale projection mapping used 32 Barco FLM HD20 projectors, rigged into eight pods of four projectors each, to cover the 11,000-sq. ft. surface area.
