NEW CASTLE, DE – The family entertainment tour, “Yo Gabba Gabba! Live – It’s Time to Dance,”  is taking kids’ shows up a notch production-wise. Pete’s Big TVs is providing various LED video panels making up the set of the show, produced by S2BN Entertainment – the same entity producing the Broadway musical, “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.”

In Memoriam: Andy Figueroa Jr., Marvin Gelman

ARTESIA, CA and WESTPORT, CT — The lighting industry lost two of its own in late November: Andy Figueroa Jr., 30, died after a Nov. 27 car accident in his hometown; Marvin Gelman, 84, founder of Lighting Services Inc. (LSI), an architectural lighting products manufacturer, died Nov. 29 of complications from cancer. Figueroa, known as “Andy Fig Jr.,” was the son of lighting programmer/director Andrew Figueroa, Sr. and had emerged as a prominent lighting tech/lighting director himself. Gelman, who retired from LSI in 2000, is credited for many advances in track, accent and display lighting.

Mojo Barriers Enjoys Summer of Successful Crowd Control

MANHEIM, PA – Mojo Barriers’ US office has enjoyed a successful summer helping to keep crowds and artists safe at festivals and concerts across the nation. One of the biggest events was Lollapalooza Aug. 5-7  in Chicago, where they designed and installed a new stage barrier configuration for crowds of up to 90,000 people each day.

Stageco Supplies Gear for Coldplay’s Bullring Gig

MADRID, Spain – A Spanish bullfighting arena served as the location for Coldplay’s one-off performance Oct. 26 to promote their new album, Mylo Xyloto. Stageco provided five trucks of equipment for the show, which was challenged when bad weather turned the sandy floor into mud. Anton Corbijn filmed the gig and streamed it live on YouTube.
