Martin MAC III Profile for Royal Danish Ballet’s, Folk Tale

AARHUS, DENMARK – The Royal Danish Ballet’s recent performance of “A Folk Tale,” which ended a four week run at the Copenhagen Opera House on April 8th, is a classic Bournonville ballet that included several new interpretations and visual elements. Part of that new look included lighting effects from Martin Professional MAC III Profile luminaires under the command of lighting designer and programmer Mikki Kunttu.

American Theatre Wing Announces Tony Nominees for 2011

NEW YORK – The American Theatre Wing announced the nominees for the 2011 Tony Awards, to be televised live on CBS June 12. The nominees for Best Lighting Design of a Play include Paule Constable for War Horse; David Lander for Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo; Kenneth Posner for The Merchant of Venice; and Mimi Jordan Sherin for Jerusalem. For Best Lighting Design of a Musical, nominees include Ken Billington for The Scottsboro Boys; Howell Binkley for How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying; Peter Kaczorowski for Anything Goes; and Brian MacDevitt for The Book of Mormon.

Coachella 2011 Goes Wireless with LumenRadio

LOS ANGELES , CA – The Coachella Music and Arts Festival in Southern California grows larger every spring. This year, the three-day event boasted over 75,000 attendees each day, and featured headlining acts such as Arcade Fire, Kanye West, and Kings of Leon. Integral to this huge production was wireless lighting control, realized with LumenRadio's CRMX Nova systems. On 11 generator-powered lighting towers as far away as 2,100 feet (640 meters) from the control center, LumenRadio controlled four DMX universes of High End intellaspots, PRG Bad Boys, and Color Kinetics ColorBlazes.

LIGHTCONVERSE Visulization Scores at Asian Winter Games

ASTANA, KAZAKHSTAN – Light Converse Ltd.'s LIGHTCONVERSE 3D Show Platform was used to pre-program the recent 2011 Asian Winter Games, held between January 30th and February 6th in Astana and Almaty, Kazakhstan. The three-hour opening ceremony of the games, staged at Astana's 40,000 seat indoor football stadium, required a visulization system that could match the highly-tuned athletic performances that would come to be from the 1,100 competitors from 27 participating countries. With over 30 universes of DMX, 586 moving light fixtures and multiple moving scenery pieces, static and video elements to contend with during the ceremony, LIGHTCONVERSE was chosen as the visualizer for all pre-show and on-site programming.
