NEW YORK — ESTA has announced that the latest version of the draft standard, BSR E1.28 – 200x, Guidance on planning followspot positions in places of public assembly, is available for public review through Dec. 28, 2009.

MANASQUAN, NJ — Leonard “Lenny” Sullivan, 34, died in Kansas City, Mo. on  Oct. 26 while supporting the tour of his cousin, Bruce Springsteen, who was touring with the E Street Band.

CHICAGO — Lighting Designer Michael Philippi died suddenly Oct. 27 while walking to Chicago’s Goodman Theatre, where he was working on a production of the Alan Gross play, High Holidays. The cause of death was unclear.

KANSAS CITY, MO — Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band cancelled a performance here Oct. 26 after the sudden death of Lenny Sullivan, 34. Sullivan, Springsteen’s cousin, was assistant tour manager. Springsteen’s next performance was slated for Madison Square Garden on Oct. 29 at the first of two Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary concerts. Springsteen and the band are expected to perform.

ORLANDO —  The ESTA-sponsored Connectivity Pavilion, booth #1349, will include an expanded array of equipment running the latest in entertainment control protocols. The Pavilion will offer a hands-on demonstration of devices interfacing under RDM (ANSI E1.20), ACN (ANSI E1.17), and Lightweight Streaming of DMX512 over ACN (ANSI E1.31).

ORLANDO — ETCP is extending the application deadline for the paper and pencil exams being offered at the 2009 LDI show. Interested applicants must submit their application, along with supporting materials and fee, to the ETCP office no later than Nov. 2, 2009.
