Da-Lite 3D Projector Stackers

Da-Lite Screen Company’s new 3D Projector Stackers, constructed from aluminum extrusion with steel projector cradles, are designed for front or rear projection stereoscopic 3D displays.  They are available with two shelf sizes, either 10 inches by 19 inches or 19 inches by 33.5 inches and they will accommodate the most common projectors in the market.  Each unit has two cradles to mount two projectors in either a tabletop or inverted format.  Because projector alignment is critical to a 3D display, each cradle offers a host of fine tuning adjustments to make image alignment simple and efficient.

Altinex CP451-008 Wireless Touchscreen Controller

The new CP451-008 Wireless Touchscreen Controller from Altinex is designed for many applications including multimedia control systems, general computing and real-time data terminals. It runs an embedded Windows XP operating system and senses touch from a finger, stylus, pen, pencil, gloved finger, or other tool. It can run on battery power and control devices over a WLAN (wireless local area network). It includes sample applications for communicating with devices over a WLAN and custom subroutines to control many devices. AVSnap AV system integration tool comes pre-installed and the unit supports Bluetooth. The Bluetooth module is compatible with most peripheral devices.

5 Star Launches Arena Line of Road Cases

5 Star has launched its new  “Arena” range of general purpose road cases.  Pictured here is Simon Edwards, 5 Star’s head of technical design, with the new cases, which feature a durable ply carcass with High Pressure Laminate (HPL) finishing and Penn-Elcom hardware. The line is available from stock in black, or to order in any of 5 Star’s standard range of colors, including Navy Blue, Royal Blue, Light Grey, Mid Green, Yellow and Red. Three standard sizes are available, the Arena 600, 900 and 1200. Each size coming complete with divider rails and partitions. The dividers can be positioned at 25mm intervals. A new 100mm deep tray, devised specifically for this trunk range, is also available.  Optional extras include additional dividers, the 100mm deep trays, PAL label dishes, stacking castor cups and screen printed logos.

Bandit Lites Opens Larger U.K. Facility

BEDFORD, U.K. — Bandit Lites, Ltd. moved their European operations into a new, larger facility. The 50,000 square foot facility includes 6,500 square feet of office space, with the remaining space divided between the Technical Services Department, the LED and Special Effects Department and the Generic and Rigging Departments. The facility also houses a virtual programming suite, storage space and enough space for Bandit to prep several lighting systems simultaneously.

ESTA, USITT Gearing Up for Training Sessions

LARGO, MD — The ESTA Foundation and USITT are making final preparations for Vectorworks Spotlight, theatrical rigging and electrical training sessions to be held at Prince George’s Community College over a six-day span from Jan. 26 through Jan. 31, 2009. The training event will be hosted and co-produced by that school and by IATSE Local 22.

Keeping it Simple for GM and Chrysler at NAIAS

DETROIT — At the 2009 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), lighting and set designers needed to balance the requirement to generate buzz with a new mandate for less visual extravagance than in previous years. Nissan Revs It Up With Elation At LA Auto Show

LOS ANGELES — When Nissan unveiled its all-new 370Z sports car at the LA Auto Show, the company wanted to create a roar, since this marked the first major overhaul of the “Z” since 2003.  The revamped roadster was given center stage in the company’s booth, featured on a turntable under a circular canopy of color-changing lights.
