NEW YORK — As award ceremonies go, the Golden Goggle Awards may not have the visibility of, say, the Oscars. But that didn’t keep Dodd Technologies, Inc. (DTI) from helping USA Swimming keep a clear, sharp view on the top swimming talent in the country. For the third consecutive year, DTI helped support the awards program with production services that included multi-screen projection, IMAG, graphics, lighting, audio, staging, scenic, production management, and tech support services.

The Mega Colour 2500 works as a moving head and outdoor color wash, and it can be used indoors and out. Along with IP44 weather resistance, the fixture features a split design for the head and power chassis, a patented reflector, a linear CYM color mixing system, standard, programmable DMX 512 control, master/slave mode and stand-alone mode. Made with an aluminum alloy chassis and ABS and composite plastics, the fixture has a Philips MSA 2500 DE lamp with 5600°color temperature. The head offers movement of 400° pan and 160° tilt, adjustable speed and automatic pan/tilt position correction and a beam angle of 60° x 45°. There is also a fixture and lamp usage time display, adjustable brightness and contrast for the LCD display and an overheating protection device.

LD Baz Halpin hides 80 Clay Paky Alpha Beam 300 fixtures behind the motion-controlled video wall, which separates into a total of eight sections, allowing the Alpha Beams to shine through.

CHICAGO — If Barack Obama’s 2008 victory speech gets preserved as a snapshot in America’s historical scrapbook, lighting supplier Christie Lites, LD Bob Peterson and event organizer C3 Presents can claim credit for the visuals created for the moment. A rig including 72 Martin MAC 2000 Wash XBs, six Syncrolite XLs, four Lycian 1293 3000-watt Xenon followspots and other gear lit the election night stage, controlled by MA Lighting’s grandMA console.
