ETCP Exams Set for USITT 2009

CINCINNATI, OH —The ETCP Council and USITT will offer electrical, arena rigging and theatre rigging examinations in a paper and pencil format at the USITT Conference and Stage Expo on March 20 and 21, 2009. Followspot Shootout Waged for Summerfest ’08

MILWAUKEE, WI — The crew for Summerfest ’08, which takes place at the Marcus Amphitheater in Henry Maier Festival Park along the lakefront, staged a followspot showdown this year. The winning instruments — Robert Juliat Super Korrigan 1200W and Victor 1800W followspots — were used for shows attracting up to 25,000 attendees per performance and more than a million people over the course of the summer.

ESTA and USITT Offer Training Sessions at ASU

TEMPE, AZ —The Joint Training Initiative of The ESTA Foundation and USITT have planned a three-day course for electrical, rigging and projection training sessions, to be held at Arizona State University Jan. 14-16, 2009. FCC Rules Against Live Event Industry in White Spaces Debate

WASHINGTON — The Federal Communications Commission voted to allow technology companies like Google, Microsoft, Dell and Motorola to produce “white spaces” devices that will use the same radio frequency (RF) spectrum now being used by wireless microphone systems.  Final text of the rules is not yet available, but the order is purported to greatly reduce the amount of clear spectrum available for use by professional audio and communications equipment.

Coemar Infinity ACL

The Infinity ACL from Coemar, part of a collection of new Infinity instruments that debuted in Las Vegas last month, has a focusable black-light, variable beam size and variable beam control with rotating aerial effects. It can provide aerial effects and split color beam effects, changing color via CMY color mixing. A six degree beam angle, iris and LDC display come standard. Other fixtures making their debut at the LDI show include the relatively compact and lightweight Infinity Spot S and Infinity Wash S and the StageLite Led, a digital cyclorama that is part of Coemar’s LiteLED range.
