XL Video for Coldplay’s MX Tour

LOS ANGELES – XL Video are supplying video production to Coldplay’s “Mylo Xyloto” (MX) world tour, continuing its long working relationship with the band that started in 2005. The band performs to a 360-degree audience where possible. Andy Bramley is the live video director, with Ben Miles as the content/media server designer and programmer. Production designer and LD Paul Normandale and Coldplay’s creative director Phil Harvey all play their part in this cinematic video environment.

Christie MicroTiles Cut Through Atrium’s High Ambient Light

KITCHENER, Ontario – TELUS Spark, The New Science Centre is welcoming visitors with the help of 48 Christie MicroTiles and an assortment of Christie projectors. The Calgary, Alberta venue opened for people of all ages and abilities to explore and discover science, technology and art in new ways. A second wall will be installed later this year, comprising an additional 22 Christie MicroTiles.

Christie MicroTiles a Hit with NKU Students

CYPRESS, CA – At Northern Kentucky University’s College of Informatics, a Christie MicroTiles interactive video wall installation takes education and gaming to a whole new level.  The 25-feet wide by 15-feet high installation lights up the Digitorium at Griffin Hall, lining the ‘BigWall’ with projections from live video, HDMI and display footage, and cable TV, among other sources.

WorldStage Supports AV for Park Art Installation

NEW YORK – WorldStage provided AV support for an innovative installation in New York City’s six-acre Madison Square Park, where Dutch artist Jacco Olivier’s stop-motion animations brighten the park’s winter landscape.  Olivier’s images of birds, a deer, a frog, a beetle and flora are seamlessly integrated into the outdoors, displayed on screens suspended from trees, hidden in the bushes and planted in the ground.  On display in both the park’s heavily trafficked areas and quieter spots, the exhibit runs until March.

Projection Studio Revisits Caerphilly Castle with Illuminata Show

LONDON – Projection artist Ross Ashton of The Projection Studio was invited back for the second year to Caerphilly Castle in Wales to recreate his “Illuminata” digital art son et Lumière. Ashton’s projected display onto the facade of the historical monument featured images from the history of the castle, accompanied by a special soundtrack by Karen Monid.

Electrosonic Helps Convey Excitement of Lunar Launch at Apollo/Saturn V Center

LOS ANGELES – Visitors to Orlando’s Apollo/Saturn V Center get an inside look at what it was like to be part of the Apollo firing room during the Dec. 21, 1968 countdown of the first manned vehicle to orbit the moon. Electrosonic was contracted by executive producer MAYAD (My Design Inc.) of Orlando, FL, to design the show control and AV equipment installation, integrate show systems between the control room and the supplied lighting and effects systems, and program all new and existing show components. The sight and sound simulation even extend to the benches, which give the audience a special “butt-shaker” effect for the blast off.

Projectiondesign Makes Stars Twinkle Longer at Planetarium

Fredrikstad, NORWAY – The stars twinkle longer at the Gates Planetarium, thanks to an installation from Norwegian manufacturer projectiondesign. The planetarium, part of the Denver Museum of Science and Nature, has installed six of projectiondesign’s F32 series DLP projectors as part of an upgrade. Their previous 11-projector setup proved unreliable and resulted in a high cost of ownership, and the new equipment provides a solution.

NEW CASTLE, DE – Pete’s Big TVs is providing LED screens, HD cameras and video crew for Donny & Marie Osmond’s touring Christmas Shows in Detroit and now in Chicago through Dec. 24. The Broadway-style revue, under Show Director Michael Barnard, features a mix of holiday songs, Broadway show tunes and career hits. The scenic elements include the LED screens which serve as the backdrop to display a family album of photos and filmed career highlights throughout the show.

Christie MicroTiles Draw Visitors to Church History Museum

CYPRESS, CA – Christie MicroTiles are the first thing visitors see when going into the Church History Museum in downtown Salt Lake City, UT. In the lobby, in an array 12 units wide by six units high, the array shows two displays simultaneously –  highlighting history and showing scenes of future exhibits. The MicroTiles are serving their purpose of drawing in visitors and guiding them through the exhibit.
